Duties Description Primary responsibilities will include managing requests from nursing, physician, & ancillary staff, which will aid in improving system performance. Ongoing building of Physician Order sets and maintaining and updating PDOC templates and canned text as requested by doctors. Creating modifying and maintaining all clinical modules of the Meditech Client / Server EHR. These modules include EMR, ITS, LAB, PHA, MRI, NPR, PCS, OE, PCM, PWM, RXM, PDOC, and others as we build out new modules. The incumbent must have a strong background and understanding of Meditech functionality and integrated systems. Those skills are required to assist with monitoring the usability of computer applications, in coordination with other clinical informatics staff, as well as to assist managers and staff in identifying and correcting application defects and managing change requests and system enhancement requests. This position requires flexibility-based application implementations and upgrades, including providing education pertaining to Meditech changes and updates, improving communication with clinicians, and assisting during unexpected interruptions of the system. Assisting other analysts in completing projects as related to, but not limited to pharmacy, admitting, lab, radiology, and medical records, etc., as well as covering other analysts' duties / projects when they are not available is a key component of this position. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications HELPS : Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program an Information Technologist Specialist 3 (Programing) requires five years of professional experience in computer programming which must have involved the planning, configuration, testing, implementation, and / or management of the systems environment that supports the organization's information technology architecture and business needs.
Substitution - A bachelor's degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science with at least 9 semester credit hours in programming languages and two years of experience in computer programming; or a bachelor's or higher level degree in any field and three years of experience in computer programming; or an associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in programming languages and four years of experience in computer programming.
Transfers : Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b / c service that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 and or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law to Information Technologist Specialist 3.
Preferred Qualifications : Minimum of five (5) years of experience building and / ormanaging an electronic health records system (preferably Meditech) in a hospital setting working with physicians and staff involved in patient care. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in one of the following areas : revenue cycle, scheduling, admissions, fiscal, billing, or coding, preferably in a healthcare setting. Experience with at least One (1) implementation of an electronic health record system. Experience with programming and implementing Meditech Client Server 5.67 modules : EMR, ITS, Lab, PHA, MRI, NPR, PCS, OE, PCM, PWM, RXM, and PDOC. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical processes. Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a team environment but also work independently. Excellent public relations skills, interpersonal skills, and word processing skills.
