Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies Warfare Systems partners with the DoD and defense innovation ecosystem to rapidly acquire and field critical and emerging technologies particularly integrated communications networking and Systems-of-Systems (SoS) technologies to enhance national security and warfighter capabilities. Through a multiagency contracting approach the Collaborative Operations for Battlespace Resilient Architecture (COBRA) initiative focuses on advancing these technologies to achieve multi-domain battlespace integration and resilient command and control. This includes a broad range of services such as systems engineering cybersecurity operational integration and data analytics all aimed at modernizing communications and ensuring seamless information exchange for the DoD and its allies.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Database Engineer - Designs develops and optimizes database systems to ensure they are efficient secure and meet organizational needs. Works with various database technologies including structured relational databases like SQL Server Oracle and MySQL and NoSQL databases for unstructured data. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with software engineers ML engineers and data analysts to plan design develop and optimize large data storage and retrieval systems to evaluate system performance improve design accuracy and test scenarios for real-world applications. Analyzes system capabilities incorporating AI / ML models to resolve complex problems related to program intent output requirements input data acquisition programming techniques and controls. Prepares operating instructions that align with the latest advancements in AI technologies and simulation strategies. Ensures database standards while adhering to best practices in AI / ML integration and simulation duties within laboratory or cloud based environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Must possess an active Secret clearance.
• Ability to analyze system requirements and develop engineering specifications
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering lifecycle phases
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical documentation

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office industrial shipboard or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
