We are seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in support of our global media & entertainment client to build cutting edge mission-critical database environments across hybrid and cloud infrastructures. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, global consulting environment and is passionate about database performance, security, and innovation. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server databases across global environments. You will enforce and enhance database administration best practices, standards, policies, and procedures, while supporting modern data architectures including cloud, hybrid, and AI-integrated systems. You will work closely with technical leads, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure optimal database operations and strategic growth.

This project will require the person to be remote commutable within the Los Angeles CA, New York tri-state area, or Orlando FL and to be part of a rotational on-call support schedule. Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database administration standards, tools, and procedures.
• Support databases in cloud and on-prem hybrid environments in a multi-database enterprise environment.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, InfoSec, Compliance, Audit, and Business stakeholders to ensure secure and compliant database operations.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization for physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted environments.
• Practical experience in managing internal and external Microsoft SQL Server database security
• Strong knowledge of Multi-Instance implementations and methodologies.
• Experience with Replication, Log Shipping, Change Data Capture and Database Mirroring
• Support high availability and disaster recovery strategies using Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, and distributed AGs.
• Manage data archival and retention policies in collaboration with business and IT teams.
• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems and participate in on-call rotations.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and serve as a subject matter expert for SQL Server technologies.
• Lead initiatives for AI integration, including vector search, external model management, and semantic search capabilities.
• Maintain and enhance security posture using TDS 8.0, RBAC, managed identities, and advanced password protection.
• Ensure compliance with resource governance policies, especially for TempDB and memory-optimized workloads.

Additional Details

The base salary range for this contract position is $115,000- 138,000 / per year, depending on experience.

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
