Job Title : Software Developer (Virtual)

Background / Need :

Our Enterprise Collaboration and Web Services (ECWS) Team provides web application and collaboration solutions in support of the Laboratory's technical mission and its day-to-day operations. These solutions include intranet and collaboration tools, document management systems, and web application development. ECWS supports the external website, Atlassian tools (Confluence and Jira), eForms, and enterprise search. The team also enables others to create Drupal websites, designs user experiences, and develops websites both internally and externally (for conferences). ECWS provides application integration with web services for many existing and new business applications. Additionally, ECWS integrates new technology capabilities like Generative AI, enabling Laboratory personnel to be more effective and efficient.

Responsibilities included but are not limited to :

Design and develop generative AI applications using Azure and AWS platforms, leveraging machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and develop AI-powered solutions that meet those needs.

Develop and maintain AI models, including training, testing, and deployment, using popular frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.

Integrate AI models with existing systems and applications, ensuring seamless integration and data exchange.

Develop and implement data pipelines to collect, process, and analyze large datasets for AI model training and deployment.

Conduct thorough testing and validation of AI applications to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance.

Troubleshoot and debug AI applications, identifying and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, ML, and NLP, and apply this knowledge to improve AI application development and deployment.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of reusable AI components and libraries.

Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain AI-related documentation, guidelines, and best practices.

Must Have :

Proficiency in Python (3.x)

Experience in AI application development, with a focus on generative AI, ML, and NLP.

Experience with Azure and AWS platforms

including AI-specific services such as Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock

Understanding of AI concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and deep learning

Familiarity with popular AI frameworks and libraries, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.

Experience with data processing and analysis, including data visualization and storytelling.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex AI-related issues.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Experience working within an Agile development framework.

Minimum Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with at least 5 years of experience.

Nice to Have :

Familiarity with containerization using Podman (or Docker).

Familiarity with Apache Solr and creating data pipelines for search products.

Experience working within the Scrum framework.

Education & Experience : Bachelor's with 5 + Years of relevant work experience.
