Job Description :

Essential Functions :

Student Success : Meet with students to handle problems relating to courses, programs or the department Refer problems to Dean or other appropriate individuals and offices when appropriate and in a timely fashion.

Monitor student retention within the courses and programs and make recommendations to the Dean and the enrollment management committee.

Communication : Provide regular updates to Enrollment Services and other appropriate campus stakeholders about program changes and updates.

Monitor the Department website and make recommendations for changes, corrections, or deletions of items to the Dean and Dir.

Collaboration : Collaborate with Workforce and Community Services on noncredit courses and program opportunities. Establish and maintain program advisory committees and CCP, and convene a minimum of two meetings per year per program.

Work with Enrollment Services on developing offerings for high school students as appropriate. Collaborate with Admissions on recruitment events for programs within the department and school.

Curriculum : Provide leadership to the faculty to ensure that rnaster course syllabi are updated every three years. Review and monitor course syllabi to ensure adherence to master syllabi.

Provide leadership to the faculty in developing, reviewing and evaluating program level student learning outcomes. Prepare paperwork for submission of course and program changes to the College Curriculum Committee and the Ohio Board of Regents.

Provide catalog updates to Records Office as needed. Provide leadership in textbook selection for courses in the department and prepare and submit book orders to the bookstore.

Monitor departmental courses for adherence to the Transfer Module, Transfer Assurance Guides, or CTAGs. Recommend library purchases supportive of departmental curricula and programs.

Advise Registrar on course transfer from other institutions. Provide leadership to the faculty for the development of new degrees, concentrations, certificates and / or majors, and elimination of underperforming programs.

Schedule Management Using data, develop a schedule to deliver courses on the Toledo and Findlay campuses consistent with the college policies and procedures.

Assign all full-time faculty members to load and overload consistent with the faculty contract.

Assign adjunct faculty at all campuses and learning centers consistent with college policy and procedures. Monitor course enrollments and adjust schedule as necessary.

Monitor and review schedule and program data to make adjust months to subsequent schedules. Interface with other departments and schools to minimize conflicts.

  • Accreditation : Obtain and maintain program level accreditations and appropriate state level approvals.
  • Assessment : Provide leadership for the assessment of student learning within the programs in the department. Ensure the annual assessment report is completed on time and submitted to the college.

Lead the department in developing a continuous quality improvement plan for each program based upon the assessment of student learning.

Program Review : Provide leadership to the faculty and staff to ensure the program review process is completed on time consistent with college policy and procedures.

Faculty Recruitment, Hiring, Orientations and Evaluations : Establish minimum and desired qualifications for departmental faculty.

Recruit, hire, orient and evaluate all full-time faculty. Recruit, hire, orient and evaluate all adjunct faculty teaching on the Toledo and Findlay area campuses, at the Source and at Arrowhead Park.

Arrange for substitute teachers and prepare necessary documents related to substitute teaching. Make recommendations to Dean for full-time faculty needs within the department.

Schedule and conduct faculty meetings on a regular basis. Make recommendations pertaining to faculty tenure and promotion.

Operational Tasks : Implement and monitor departmental budget, including approval of purchase orders and expenditures.

Review and recommend changes in student fees for labs or courses, make budget and resource recommendations to the Dean, Develop and maintain equipment and supply inventories and replacement plans and recommend equipment purchases to Dean.

Supervise and evaluate direct reports.

Committee Appointments : Serve on Council of Chairs. Attend school-level administrative team meetings. Serve on college committees and task forces as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred.
  • Computer Skills - 1 year experience.
  • Management Skills - 1-2 years experiences OR Industrial experience - 1-2 years' experience.
  • Higher Education experience - 3 years plus.
  • Preferred Community College experience.
