THE POSITION

Our client is looking for an experienced Laboratory Services Manager to join their practice. In this role, you will be responsible for opening a new lab site, and planning, coordinating, and overseeing the daily operation of the lab.

This includes ensuring policies and procedures are followed, qualified staffing levels are maintained, and supplies and equipment are at sufficient levels to meet the standards of care.

KEY RESULT AREAS

• Direct day-to-day supervision of the laboratory operation and work of laboratory personnel.
• Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure the reliability of testing procedures.
• Establish and maintain routine documented schedules of quality control, quality assurance, and safety and inspection control practices.
• Interpret accrediting agencies' standards or guidelines for ancillary testing programs and translate requirements into policies and procedures.
• Assist in maintaining medical LIS by identifying information needs and problems.
• Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures.
• Manage laboratory inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and placing and expediting orders for supplies.
• Formulate goals and / or recommend policy, evaluate department needs on an annual basis for budget preparation and assign objectives and establish standards of practice.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge, staying abreast of and executing the latest technical and management developments.
• Supervises laboratory staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Daily sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, and stooping.
• Fine motor skills, normal color perception, and ability to lift 50 pounds required.
• Frequent use of PPE due to handling of potentially infectious materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from a NAACLS accredited Medical Lab Technology or Clinical Lab Scientist Program from an accredited college / university required.
• ASCP or AMT certification required.
• Two years of Lab supervision experience required.
• Project management or setup experience, and Hospital Lab experience preferred.
