Esports Faculty

Shenandoah University’s School of Business is accepting applications for an Esports Faculty for our academic Esports program.

This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

The position is at the rank of assistant or associate professor and will begin in August 2024. The School of Business is accredited by AACSB International.

The school offers a Bachelor of Science in Esports Management, and various certificates and concentrations surrounding the field of Esports.

The Esports program oversees the competitive Esports teams and is involved in international experiential learning. Esports faculty are expected to participate in growing the program, which may include activities such as recruiting, advising, planning, event management, participation in partner management and negotiation.

Position Responsibilities :

Teach 18 credit hours of undergraduate and / or graduate level courses in Esports related areas;

produce high quality scholarship; provide service to the School and University.

Required Experience :

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or be near completion) in a field related to the areas Esports touches (examples : Sport Management, Event Management, degrees related to media and / or digital communication or broadcasting).

Preferred applicants will meet or surpass the School's

criteria for Scholarly Academic (SA) status. Candidates must be qualified to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Evidence of strong instructional skills is desired. Practical industry experience, entrepreneurship and certifications from recognized professional societies are highly valued.

Experience in teaching or participating in Esports activities is a plus. Candidates meeting the above criteria are encouraged to provide evidence of the following, if applicable : professional experience;

cross-disciplinary collaboration; international experience; experiential learning activities; academic program leadership (or interest therein).
