Overview We are seeking a full-time Sr. DBA / Data Engineer in our Chandler, AZ location. Essential Functions Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvements Work with IT Manager to establish database security structures, Sox compliance Create / maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers Administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network Tune and optimize database objects Provide 24x7 on call support Provide technical input to solution development plans and concept documents Demonstrate understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutions Communicate effectively in written and verbal form in a cross-functional setting with business partners Share knowledge and actively mentor less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1 & 2) Perform / plan major version upgrades Design / implement effective monitoring of enterprise systems Tune systems using experience and deep knowledge of area Foresee risks and communicate / mitigate those before problems arise Document technical designs and procedures for team library Plan / manage technical projects involving other teams Communicate technology effectively to non-technical associates and management Recognize / understand technology impacts within the business Contribute to technical research on new technologies, processes or procedures with a desire to continuously learn new technologies Participate in project definition activities including estimation of delivery Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Excellent academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge Experience with SQL and RDBMS Experience with open-source data tools such as Kafka, OpenSearch, Redis, etc. Demonstrated ability to learn and implement new technologies effectively Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization Desired Qualifications Experience with .NET Core, Python and other modern software languages Experience with automation tools and platforms Prior experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator Experience with both Windows and Linux Servers Previous experience working in a team environment Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
