Job description

WT Partnership - Assistant Construction Manager

Founded in Australia back in 1949, WT has become a force in North America since 2010. Recognized for our technology-forward'start-up' culture, highly engaged team of multi-disciplinary advisors and long-term partnership approach with client programs, WT is a trusted advisor to Owners, Developers, Government and Private sector clients. With a footprint of over 60 locations and 1600 staff globally, we're an award-winning advisory firm who support clients across the infrastructure investment, construction and asset management sectors. We are a privately held company, looking to hire the best talent to assist with a planned growth and be rewarded with a competitive package, training, mentorship and excellent career opportunities.

The Role

As an Assistant Construction Manager in WT's Honolulu office, you will play an important role in supporting the successful delivery of the New Aloha Stadium and Entertainment District project. Working alongside experienced project and construction professionals, you will gain hands-on experience in the planning, coordination, and delivery of one of Hawaii's most significant infrastructure projects.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual seeking to build a career in construction management, infrastructure delivery, and owner's representative services. The role will involve supporting project controls, field coordination, contractor oversight activities, schedule monitoring, and stakeholder communications while developing a strong understanding of alternative project delivery methods and large-scale infrastructure programs.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of working effectively in a collaborative project environment. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. Previous experience in construction, engineering, project management, architecture, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Working under the guidance of senior project leaders, the Assistant Construction Manager will progressively assume greater responsibility as they develop technical expertise and project management skills.

Some of the core responsibilities for this role include:

Construction Oversight & Coordination

  • Monitor construction activities to ensure alignment with approved scope, schedule, and quality
  • Coordinate with the team responsible for stadium construction, operations, and maintenance

Schedule, Cost, and Progress Monitoring

  • Review contractor schedule and progress updated to ensure the project achieves target delivery date.
  • Track construction activities and progress against key milestones and delivery commitments.
  • Support budget monitoring alongside project controls and cost management teams.

Contract & Compliance Management

  • Monitor compliance with project agreements (e.g., development agreement, stadium delivery obligations).
  • Assist in managing contractor reporting requirements and performance metrics.
  • Support interpretation of contractor submissions and escalate issues where necessary.

Reporting & Stakeholder Communications

  • Contribute to PMO reporting requirements, including monthly updates on:
    • Budget and timeline.
    • Risks and issues.
    • Health, safety, and quality performance.
  • Prepare briefings and materials for client stakeholders.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify construction risks and dependencies.
  • Maintain coordination with the PMO risk register and mitigation strategies.
  • Support escalation and resolution of complex construction issues.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate across multiple stakeholders, including:
    • State agencies.
    • Master developer.
    • Design consultants and contractors.
  • Ensure alignment between stadium delivery and broader district development.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Provide flexible support to project teams as priorities shift or new needs arise.
  • Support WT's mission and values through collaboration and professionalism.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and ten (10) years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Experience delivering large-scale civil, sports, or mixed-use developments.
  • Strong background in project delivery / construction management.
  • Contract and stakeholder management expertise.
  • Ability to operate in a complex, multi-agency environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient with Office 365 and project management platforms.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary.
  • 20 days of vacation plus all federal holidays.
  • Paid sick leave.
  • Contribution to medical, optical, and dental for employees and dependents.
  • Long-term and short-term disability coverage.
  • 5% Employer 401K match.
  • Employer paid life insurance coverage.

How To Apply

Provide a detailed resume and cover letter including details of recent and significant projects, plus achievements.
