Business Unit

BXTI – Corporate Finance Technology

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Software Development Engineer to join Blackstone's Procurement Technology team within Corporate Finance Technology. This role is ideal for an engineer with experience building enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud-based integrations who is eager to work at the intersection of software engineering and business operations. The successful candidate will develop and support solutions that power procurement processes, supplier integrations, analytics, and financial operations across the firm. Working closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and fellow engineers, this individual will help deliver scalable, reliable, and innovative technology solutions while gaining exposure to modern cloud platforms, enterprise architecture, and large-scale financial systems.

Business Description

Blackstone Technology & Innovations (BXTi) is the technology organization at the core of Blackstone's businesses and growth initiatives. Serving both internal and external clients, BXTi develops the next generation of systems that manage risk, drive operational efficiency, and improve transparency across the firm and its broad ecosystem of investors and portfolio companies.

BXTi is entrepreneurial, and highly collaborative. Our open and iterative development approach enables engineers to make meaningful contributions from day one. We are problem solvers who take ideas from concept to implementation, leveraging modern technologies and strong partnerships with business stakeholders. Through active mentoring and a culture of continuous learning, we empower our teams to deliver innovative solutions that help maintain Blackstone's competitive advantage.

Position Overview

The Procurement Technology team is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting business-critical applications that enable procurement operations across Blackstone. These platforms support supplier onboarding, purchasing, invoice processing, analytics, and integrations with enterprise systems and third-party solutions.

As an Associate Software Development Engineer, you will contribute to the development of scalable applications, APIs, and integrations that drive operational efficiency and transparency across the procurement ecosystem. You will work closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and technology teams to deliver high-quality solutions while supporting and enhancing existing platforms.

This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to modern cloud technologies, enterprise integrations, data platforms, and end-to-end software development within one of the world's leading alternative asset management firms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to design, develop, test, and maintain applications and integration services that support the procurement technology ecosystem.
  • Develop and support APIs, data integrations, and enterprise services that connect internal systems with third-party procurement and finance platforms.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new technology solutions, ensuring delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality software.
  • Support production applications and integrations by troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing both immediate and long-term solutions.
  • Contribute to platform modernization and cloud infrastructure initiatives, including automation, monitoring, performance optimization, and deployment improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders during the onboarding and integration of new third-party applications and vendors.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering best practices, including maintainability, performance, security, and testing.
  • Work within Agile development teams to deliver solutions aligned with business priorities and timelines.
  • Utilize monitoring and observability tools to proactively identify and resolve issues impacting system reliability and performance.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and business needs.

Qualifications

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in collaborative environments, demonstrate intellectual curiosity, exercise sound judgment, and have a proven track record of excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience developing applications using C#, Python, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design principles, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
  • Experience designing, developing, or consuming RESTful APIs and integration services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience working with cloud-based platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and modern software development practices.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and can effectively partner with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Work effectively within distributed teams and adapt to evolving business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with procurement, source-to-pay (S2P), supplier management, or enterprise finance technology platforms.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise procurement or ERP systems such as Coupa, SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Workday, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with modern web application frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake.
  • Experience with AI related concepts like MCP, Agents, RAG, and AI coding tools like Claude Code.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture, messaging systems, and distributed applications.
  • Experience utilizing application monitoring, observability, and logging platforms.
  • Experience within financial services, asset management, or other highly regulated industries.

What You'll Gain

  • Exposure to enterprise-scale software development, integrations, and cloud technologies.
  • Opportunities to work directly with business stakeholders and influence critical procurement processes.
  • Mentorship and career development within a high-performing technology organization.
  • Experience delivering innovative solutions that drive efficiency and operational excellence across one of the world's leading asset management firms.
