JOB SUMMARY

At POET, we run a complex business affected by hundreds of variables, and we use data every day to weigh our options. As a data engineer in this fast paced, data-driven biotech company, your job is to build reliable systems to enable analytics and ensure the timely capture and dissemination of large amounts of business-critical information. These systems will combine data from all corners of the business and enable research scientists, grain buyers, ethanol marketers, and engineers to answer tough questions. You will work with data from sensors in the ethanol plants, commodity pricing data, financial data, and more. This position reports onsite at our headquarters in Sioux Falls, SD.

DURING A TYPICAL DAY

In this role, you'll be expected to have a great relationship with the business units that your work supports. Their problems are your problems, and their goals are your goals. You'll support these goals through :

• Architecting and overseeing the execution of enterprise data solutions
• Developing and managing data storage solutions
• Building data pipelines to automate collection, cleaning and transformation
• Optimizing data storage and retrieval for performance and scalability
• Ensuring data quality and integrity through validation and monitoring
• Working with analysts and other stakeholders to make sure that they have the appropriate tools to get their jobs done
• Since we're all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to a lot of other uses!
