About the Outdoorsy Group

Founded in 2015, Outdoorsy Group pioneered access to the outdoors by building the world’s leading outdoor travel ecosystem. Millions of guests trust Outdoorsy to create lifelong family memories, while hosts rely on its products and innovations to grow their businesses and unlock life-changing sources of income. Outdoorsy Group’s portfolio includes Outdoorsy.com, the largest outdoor travel and hospitality marketplace; the Destination Network, a growing collection of campgrounds and glamping retreats set in some of the country’s most iconic landscapes; and Roamly, its proprietary insurtech platform powering Outdoorsy.com and enabling insurance infrastructure for global marketplaces. Together, Outdoorsy Group’s businesses are united by a long-term mission: to restore our relationship with the outdoors—and with one another.

About Outdoorsy

Outdoorsy is the world's largest RV rental and outdoor travel marketplace. Our platform has facilitated over 9 million nights spent outdoors across almost 2 million trips, establishing us as the leader in experiential travel through RV rentals that are available in 4,800 cities across North America. Outdoorsy's marketplace, insurance, and retreats provide life-changing financial benefits for RV hosts and retreat communities and offer guests the trust and guidance they need to enjoy memorable rustic travel experiences. Outdoorsy's team is inspired by a mission to restore our relationship with the outdoors and each other by inviting guests to Live Outdoorsy.

About Roamly

Roamly is a leading provider of innovative, specialty insurance solutions purpose-built for the modern mobility and marketplace travel economy. As a Lloyd's Coverholder and AI-first insurance innovator, Roamly delivers a robust platform, deep carrier partnerships, and an expanding ecosystem that empowers consumers, professional fleet owners, and marketplaces to unlock new revenue streams while reducing risk. Our technology harnesses AI, advanced automation, and embedded distribution to power tailored coverages for recreational vehicles, carsharing, and other emerging mobility models—covering everything from underwriting and claims to compliance, data analytics, and real-time risk management. Learn more at www.roamly.com.

About the Role:

The Outdoorsy Group is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to drive two business critical functions: the synthesis of data sources to develop a Customer 360 view across our suite of products, and achieving AI readiness by creating real-time data flows that connect to AI agents. To date, our data has been siloed across different products and tools, each with their own identifiers and structures. The ideal candidate will be able to show a track record of success building scalable data pipelines that solve Identity Resolution challenges, as well as experience building infrastructure for LLM-based applications. If you’re self-driven and looking to make an impact in a fast-paced environment, then we’d love to have you!

Requirements

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Enhance Identity Resolution such that there is a source-of-truth Customer 360 view that links users across our RV marketplace, internal insurance products, and 3rd-party insurance partners.
  • Develop fuzzy matching algorithms to triangulate single users across data that lacks common IDs.
  • Build and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines (using tools like dbt, Airflow, FiveTran) that sync siloed SQL databases, external CRM data, and 3rd-party insurance and claims data into a unified warehouse (Redshift/BigQuery).
  • Architect real-time data flows to feed an AI agent, achieving AI Readiness. Through Knowledge Graphs, Vector Databases, and Retrieval-Automated Generation, ensure agents can access e.g. latest policy status, upsell propensity scores, and customer history in near real-time.
  • Own all aspects of data governance between our operational systems and the AI agent to ensure privacy, security and high-fidelity responses.

Who You Are (Candidate Profile)

  • Industry Expert: 3+ years data engineering experience building production-grade data warehouses and pipelines. Travel, marketplace, or insurance experience is a bonus, but not essential.
  • Technically Proficient: Advanced expertise in SQL and Python, with the ability to write complex transformations and fuzzy matching algorithms, and handle messy 3rd-party data formats.
  • Identity Resolution Experience: Direct experience with ‘Customer 360’ or ‘Golden Rule’ projects that establish source-of-truth customer profiles across disparate products and data sources.
  • Real-Time LLM Context: Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Pub/Sub) or building infrastructure for LLM-based applications (Knowledge Graphs, Vector Databases, RAG).
  • Collaborative Team Player: You work effectively across departments, e.g. Product, Engineering, and Finance, and understand that great products come from diverse perspectives.
  • Velocity-Focused: You thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities shift quickly, and you're energized by solving real customer problems.
  • Academic Background: Degree in a technical quantitative field like computer science, data science, and engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

* Candidates in Austin, Texas will be prioritized
