Job Summary
The front desk associate works directly with patients and physicians to provide customer service for patients. The front desk associate will gather patient information, schedule appointments, collect payments, and may assist with the call center.
Duties and Responsibilities
Greet and register patients according to established protocols
Assist patients to complete all forms and documentation including medical insurance
Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
Move patients through appointments as scheduled
Answer incoming calls and assist with inquiries
Schedule patient appointments
Collect payments
Consistent review of physician schedules, with minimal reschedules
Obtain external medical reports and maintain patient records as required by medical professionals
Respond and comply with requests for information
Register patients with copay assistance foundations
Maintain a clean and neat reception area
Additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Strong interpersonal customer service skills, including effective listening, clear verbal and written communication, problem solving skills
Reliable transportation to travel to practice locations - not just 1 location.
Ability to master multiple software systems to input and retrieve data
Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology
Preferred Requirements
Previous experience in a medical practice
Bilingual - Spanish
Essential Job Functions
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person and via telephone
Frequent use of computer terminal to read and write
Frequent bending, reaching, sitting, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, pushing, and pulling
Lifting up to 10lbs

Work location may vary
Monday - Friday schedule, and may volunteer to work weekend clinic when offered
Hourly pay (FLSA non-exempt, eligible for overtime)
