Job Description

Job Description

Transforming the lives of those affected by severe mental illness

At Amae Health, we are dedicated to helping the 15.4 million Americans living with severe mental illness (SMI) lead stable, meaningful lives, while ending the cycle of repeat hospitalizations. In partnership with some of the nation's top academic medical centers we've pioneered an innovative outpatient care model that combines compassionate, in-person psychiatric care with comprehensive wraparound support. Our integrated care teams — including psychiatrists, therapists, primary care physicians, health coaches, and peer support specialists — work together to treat the whole person via a unique model, addressing physical, mental, and social needs in unison. By caring for every aspect of our patients' well-being, we help them not just survive, but truly thrive.

Amae Health is a Series A venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation dedicated to becoming the nation's center of excellence for individuals living with severe mental illness (SMI). Backed by top-tier venture capital firms and strategic healthcare investors, we collaborate with prestigious health systems including NewYork-Presbyterian, Stanford Healthcare, and Cedars-Sinai, underscoring our commitment to fundamentally transforming mental health care delivery at scale.

The Team :

At Amae we are a collective of providers on a mission to create a radically different patient-first behavioral health care model that truly transforms patient's lives by integrating care delivery, patient experience, cutting edge technology and research. Join a team of clinicians, operators, builders and technologists from One Medical, Forward Health, Stanford, Hinge Health, Palantir, The Four Seasons, and Brightline as we redefine care for the most vulnerable populations - across the nation, at scale.

We're Hiring!

We are hiring a Mental Health Therapist to join us onsite in our up and coming clinic in Raleigh, NC as part of an interdisciplinary team committed to providing personalized, compassionate and high-quality SMI care.

The Opportunity :

As a Mental Health Therapist at Amae you will play an integral role in our collective mission to become the center of excellence for SMI care. In alignment with Amae's holistic wrap-around care model, you will support a panel of our complex members through individual and group therapy sessions, while also providing psychoeducation and support to patients' families. Working within a collaborative and shared decision making model, you will have the opportunity to partner with clinical staff, peer specialists, primary care providers and community partners. A patient advocate, you will help members navigate the health and social services systems in the San Francisco Bay Area, connecting patients to resources and the community. Rooted in trust and rapport, you will initiate, establish and maintain relationships not only with patients, but also with families, as you care for members of Amae Health.

About you :

A clinician who thrives at the intersection of clinical best practice, innovative care models and the latest technology, caring for complex patients is your north star. You take a person-centered approach to your work, deliver evidence-based interventions and practice measurement-based care. If you are excited to work side by side with a dedicated, compassionate interdisciplinary team who are building the center of excellence for SMI care, we would love to hear from you!

What you will work on :

  • Provide individual and group therapy to a panel of complex SMI patients
  • Provide continuous, regular support as patients navigate recovery, both in person and on occasion, virtually
  • Deliver evidence-based care in a holistic, wrap-around care model
  • Collaborate with patient care teams and with behavioral health providers to ensure an integrated, cohesive approach to care
  • Address medical needs to mitigate negative impacts of various social determinants of health
  • Provide consultation to therapists on the treatment team, which may include licensed therapists as well as trainees, as well as assisting with program development.

What you'll have :

  • Active Licensed Psychologist in North Carolina, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT or LPC license in the state of NC. Associate level welcome to apply, onsite supervision available
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment and establishes positive relationships with other medical professionals
  • Experience and interest in working with adults and at least 1 year of experience working with patients with severe mental illness
  • Experience in evidence-based interventions, including CBT, DBT, or MI
  • Ability to navigate challenging situations with professionalism
  • Thorough understanding of confidentiality and appropriate documentation standards
  • Technologically savvy, with the ability to learn and navigate new tools and technologies
  • Highly organized with the ability to work autonomously
  • Possess strong listening skills and excellent verbal communication capabilities
  • What We Provide :

  • Health Insurance : Comprehensive medical, dental & vision plans
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401(k)
  • FSA & HSA savings programs
  • Short & long-term disability
  • Pre-tax commuter assistance program
  • Paid time off
  • Parental Leave - 12 weeks for birth and non birth parent
  • 11 company holidays
  • DEA / License / Certification reimbursement
  • CME budget
  • Amae Health is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

Base salary range for this role is $55,000-$95,000 per year based on a full-time schedule. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate and it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. These factors include, but are not limited to, job related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications, degrees, licensures, and specific work location.

    More About Amae :

Amae', pronounced ' Ah-mai' , is a Japanese concept meaning the need to be in good favor with, and the ability to depend on, the people around oneself. It reflects our core belief that a strong support system is essential to build people up, strengthen their will to carry on and even to thrive in life. This mentality applies across our whole company – from the patients we serve to the team we're building.

We're a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) that provides outpatient psychiatric and primary care health services through value-based care arrangements. Our model's success is predicated upon achieving outcomes for our patients, not on the volume of services provided.

Amae Health is an equal opportunity employer and encourages all applicants from every background and life experience to apply.
