Job description

Staff Accountant

At Digital Turbine, we make mobile advertising experiences more meaningful and rewarding for users, app publishers, and advertisers intelligently connecting people in more ways, across more devices. We provide app publishers and advertisers with powerful ads and experiences that captivate consumers, fuel performance, and help telecoms and OEMs supercharge awareness, acquisition, and monetization. In a rapidly evolving industry, we are constantly innovating and creating better paths of discovery to connect consumers, publishers, and advertisers across the mobile ecosystem.

We are looking to fill a key accounting position in our Durham, North Carolina office. This is a hybrid role, combining the flexibility of remote work with dedicated in-office collaboration days to drive team connection and cross-functional alignment.

Position Summary:

As a Staff Accountant, you will play an essential role in supporting our monthly GL cycles, ensuring the integrity of our ledger, and driving continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and a proactive mindset. This role is a generalist position, providing significant exposure to various general ledger work streams, audit prep, and operational accounting processes, with the flexibility to grow alongside our dynamic accounting organization.

About the Staff Accountant role:

  • Extract, analyze, and manipulate data from relevant systems to propose accurate general ledger journal entries.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations with a focus on ledger integrity, identifying and investigating historical variances to maintain an audit-ready state.
  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual month-end close tasks in accordance with established schedules, collaborating cross-regionally and cross-functionally as needed.
  • Prepare standard variance explanations, analytics, and key financial metric reports to summarize financial status and support management decision-making.
  • Document, standardize, and continuously improve accounting workflows, internal control policies, and operational procedures.
  • Liaise with GL Accounting, Finance, and Operations teams to streamline the close process and eliminate manual operational bottlenecks.
  • Assist in pulling support for external auditors in quarterly reviews and annual audits to ensure full compliance with US GAAP and SOX principles.
  • Execute ad-hoc accounting tasks, analysis, and strategic projects in accordance with the shifting needs of the business.

About YOU as the Staff Accountant:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and General Ledger (GL) functions in a corporate setting.
  • Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations and participating in corporate month-end close cycles or 1-2 years at a public accounting firm.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and basic internal control concepts (experience in a public company environment is a plus).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with strong capability to analyze and organize large, complex financial datasets.
  • Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and proactive analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function effectively and build relationships in a global, team-oriented, hybrid work environment.
  • Familiarity with, or a strong curiosity to leverage, AI tools to automate routine tasks and improve day-to-day workflow efficiency is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion and other Oracle products is a plus
