Breakthrough is the leading college access and success nonprofit in Central Texas. For over 20 years, we have partnered with thousands of middle and high school students who aspire to be the first in their families to graduate with a degree or certificate. We make a radical, long-term commitment to students, to and through college, unlocking the power of education and a lifetime of opportunity. We support the whole student with personalized services, work closely with community partners, campuses, and employers, and advocate for our students with lawmakers. Breakthrough students attend 60+ public schools and persist at nearly 100 colleges and universities. The result is that 60% of Breakthrough students graduate from college, compared to 15% of low-income students in our region. Our work has resulted in more than 450 college graduates, with nearly 3,500 on their way, positively impacting families for generations, our region's educational access and success, and the Central Texas economy.

About the role

The Program Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining systems and processes for collecting, managing, and supporting data analysis to improve the organization's services. This new position will play a critical role in the organization's ability to leverage the data and the experiences of our students and families to drive change within the organization and the broader Central Texas education system. The Program Data Analyst helps ensure that our data collection, management, and analysis are aligned with our program goals, yield meaningful insights to drive our work, and are informed by the experiences of Breakthrough participants and external research. The Program Data Analyst is also an information resource for ​​colleagues and partners and stays informed of best practices in participatory and collaborative data use. To accomplish these goals, the Program Data Coordinator will :

  • Support the maintenance of Breakthrough's data collection and management systems.
  • Help establish a positive, non-threatening culture of data sharing and sensemaking across the organization by working closely with the program team to manage, analyze, and interpret Breakthrough student data, ask questions to help our team make sense of the data, interpret trends, set goals, progress monitor, ensure alignment to program objectives, and make recommendations based on findings from the data.
  • Create and share outcomes, reports, and analyses internally.
  • Assure school district and postsecondary data is accurately tracked in Salesforce.
  • Maintain protocols for data integrity and security.
  • Support the development and troubleshooting of Salesforce data infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of program team goals and their regular monitoring.
  • Work closely with our program team to maintain the Salesforce infrastructure related to student admissions, student re-enrollment paperwork, student grades and attendance, Breakthrough program event attendance, college enrollment and persistence data, and other relevant data needs
  • Support the administration and analysis of student assessments.
  • Provide data support and technical assistance to staff across departments, including regular training for new and veteran staff.
  • Participate in committees and workgroups to engage in team planning, organizational change work, and other collaborative work as needed.
  • Support administering and maintaining data collection and migration processes associated with student admissions—support maintaining and updating multiple team-level tracking tools.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

About You

Breakthrough Central Texas seeks a talented, experienced, and enthusiastic leader to support the Data and Evaluation team in improving educational outcomes for first-generation college aspirants in Central Texas and aligning Breakthrough's work to best practices in educational research and evaluation. We seek someone firmly committed to the organization"s mission and values. Because of the large size of the organization and the complicated, fast pace of the work, the ideal candidate will have :

  • A demonstrated commitment to Breakthrough Central Texas' mission of expanding educational opportunity and success across Central Texas by improving secondary outcomes and increasing the number of first-generation college graduates in the region
  • Ability to manage large data sets and to interpret data for others
  • Required proficiency with Salesforce CRM administration,
  • Preferred Salesforce Administrator Certification
  • Proficiency with Form Assembly preferred
  • Required proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, and in data visualization
  • Experience with quantitative research methods, which could include survey and statistical software (e.g., Tableau, ArcGIS, STATA, R)
  • Experience working with secondary and / or postsecondary data
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and ability to complete projects under time constraints
  • A demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and adaptable and to work independently and as part of a team
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary between $57,00-$70,000, depending on experience and qualifications
