Description

Who We Are

At nLIGHT, we are constantly extending the cutting-edge of laser technology in multiple dynamic and growing markets. We are a leading provider of high-power semiconductors and fiber lasers for industrial, microfabrication, and aerospace & defense applications, to name a few. Our lasers are changing not only the way things are made, but also changing the things that can be made.

Headquartered in Camas, Washington, nLIGHT is a publicly listed company (NASDAQ: LASR).

Position Summary

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading and improving the company’s quality systems to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality standards. This role oversees document and change control processes, supports audits, CAPA, deviations, and quality metrics, and drives corrective and continuous improvement actions across multiple sites. Based primarily in Camas, this position also provides support to Vancouver and Hillsboro as needed and supervises quality systems personnel while partnering cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and other stakeholders to maintain effective and compliant business processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and company quality requirements.
  • Oversees day-to-day quality systems activities in Camas and supports Vancouver and Hillsboro as needed, coordinating with other locations to align best practices.
  • Administers document and change control processes, including DCRs, ECOs, DMS, and PDM activities, ensuring documentation accuracy, risk review, and required approvals.
  • Monitors quality metrics, audits, CAPAs, deviations, and documentation performance; escalates issues, tracks gaps, and supports corrective actions through closure.
  • Provides direct supervision to Documentation Specialists, Change Control Specialist, and Product Compliance Specialist, including daily direction, performance feedback, coaching, training, development support, and timecard approval.
  • Identifies quality issues and process inefficiencies, applies structured problem-solving tools, and participates in continuous improvement initiatives that support ISO 9001, CAPA effectiveness, and operational performance.
  • Collaborates with production, engineering, contract manufacturers, and other cross-functional partners to maintain product and process quality and coordinate documentation updates.
  • Supports internal and external audits, CAPA Review Board activities, and maintenance of accurate quality records, reports, procedures, and related documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a quality role (e.g., Quality Technician, Quality Engineer, Auditor, or similar) with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree - or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the 7 quality tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide practical solutions and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in manufacturing/production environments preferred.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data to support decision-making.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and follow established procedures.
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of statistical and analytical methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this role generally require the ability to perform the following job-related activities, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Sit, stand, and walk for 8 or more hours, as needed.
  • Work in both office and industrial environments, including clean rooms and labs.
  • Travel locally to various company locations, as needed.
  • Perform repetitive tasks such as document review, testing, and computer-based data entry.
  • Walk through production areas and facility floors to oversee processes and conduct inspections.
  • Occasionally lift materials, test samples, or documents up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally travel overnight for supplier audits, customer visits, or off-site inspections, which may involve extended driving or air travel.

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
