Job description

Compensation: $37.00 to $61.74 USD per hour (Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.)

Schedule & Flexibility: Patient care never stops, and our night team is vital to our success. This role includes shared coverage for overnight shifts. We utilize a collaborative scheduling system to ensure shift distribution remains fair and predictable for all nursing staff.

Why Join The Glens Falls Hospital ICU/PCU?

· Magnet Excellence: Work within the top 10% of hospitals nationwide. Our Magnet designation ensures shared governance, truly engaged clinical leadership, and a collaborative, supportive culture.

· Financial Incentives: Boost your earnings with highly competitive shift differentials, an aggressive sign-on bonus, and bonus payouts for obtaining advanced certifications.

· Career Progression: Advance your clinical skills via our dedicated Clinical Ladder, comprehensive mentorship programs, and tuition reimbursement.

Team Impact

This position offers a versatile environment where experienced ICU nurses can lead high-acuity care, while newer nurses gain a unique pathway to build foundational critical care skills and transition into the ICU. You will collaborate across two distinct care environments:

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides an intermediate level of care for patients who need more monitoring than a standard hospital floor, but not the intensive level of an ICU. Nurses typically manage a lower patient ratio compared to standard floors that allow which allows for more acute care.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is staffed and equipped to provide highly skilled interdisciplinary services to patients requiring complex and intensive nursing care interventions for life-threatening conditions. With patients in a 2:1 ratio with nurses, this allows close monitoring for a more effective care plan.

The Impact You Will Make

What You Will Do

· Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.

· Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to promote positive clinical outcomes and seamless transitions of care.

· Monitor patient conditions, implement appropriate interventions, and adjust care plans based on changing needs and treatment goals.

· Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, self-care, and discharge instructions.

· Utilize electronic health record systems to document care accurately and maintain compliance with organizational standards.

· Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, communicate effectively with team members, and ensure safe patient handoffs.

· Delegate and supervise nursing support staff appropriately while maintaining accountability for patient care delivery.

· Support a culture of safety, teamwork, quality improvement, and professional excellence through active participation in unit and organizational initiatives.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

· Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nursing Program.

o Note: BSN preferred. Associate degree hires must complete their BSN within 5 years (RNs with 20+ years of experience can substitute an advanced certification for the BSN requirement).

· Licensure: Active, unrestricted New York State (NYS) RN License.

· Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), and NAPPI certifications are required and fully provided by the hospital during your comprehensive onboarding process.

o Current ACLS and stroke certifications (or a willingness to obtain them within your first year).

· Skills & Competencies:

o Excellent clinical judgment, rapid problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to remain calm and effective during medical emergencies

o Ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies

o Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with other nursing personnel, patients, and physicians

o Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations

o Strong working knowledge of standard healthcare reporting and quality measures

· Work Authorization: This position is open to candidates with valid U.S. work authorization, as well as Canadian citizens eligible for TN Visa status under the USMCA.
