Principal, Executive Search
The Role
We seek a Principal, Executive Search to join Nexus Search Partners in our Charlotte, NC office. You will manage the entire life cycle of the Executive Search process for designated clients.
This is a high-profile role that works in collaboration with our other Executive Search colleagues.
In this position, you will build relationships with clients rooted in accountability and transparency. As an extension of your clients’ respective brands, you will need to understand their business, culture, and talent acquisition needs and do so by conducting in-depth assessments.
You will also be a leader in sourcing, screening, and managing candidates from our diverse network of talent through the entire interview process.
As the subject matter expert, you will provide consultative guidance and advice on Executive Search best practices. You will also be responsible for identifying opportunities to provide additional executive search services to existing and new clients.
Key Responsibilities
The Principal, Executive Search will play a leading role in executing several core areas in our talent agenda :
- Work with client hiring managers to scope search projects by obtaining information that clearly defines the specifics of the job, including the responsibilities, requirements, compensation, company culture, etc.
- Lead and develop comprehensive, targeted Executive Search strategies in tandem with our team of Partners and Associates that lean on heavy cold calling and direct sourcing, database mining, client referrals, local advertising, networking, professional communities, etc.
- Effectively evaluate candidate qualifications by conducting in-depth interviews and behavioral assessments
- Successfully communicate each candidate’s experience and qualifications to the client and provide the client insights on the candidate’s background, expertise, and career potential
- Manage and negotiate both the selection and offer process, including but not limited to candidate compensation, benefits, relocation, and pre-close of the candidate
- Manage recruitment lifecycle from search kick-off through closure to ensure time to fill goals are achieved
- Develop, drive, and manage strong business relationships with clients to ensure successful placements and guarantee customer satisfaction
- Drive new business with existing customers and prospects and develop relationships with Nexus Search Partners by working with them to grow business with key customer accounts
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with candidates by providing transparent, accountable care; this includes defining position requirements and recruiting process, timely updates on progress, interview preparation, and debriefing
- Work closely with Project Coordinator to ensure interviews are promptly scheduled and confirmed, applicant tracking system compliance, and that all HR and / or recruiting-related correspondence are sent to candidates
- Responsible for identifying and leveraging new recruitment sources and staying up to date on industry trends and executive movement
- Provide project updates to management, client contacts, and stakeholders and escalate issues in a timely fashion
- A successful Principal will co-author a business development plan for their core market(s)
Skills and Qualifications
- Deep understanding of Executive Search with experience managing SVP+ searches
- Strong business acumen and ability to quickly learn about different business environments and act as an extension of client brands
- Consultative mindset and ability to anticipate client needs and ask the right questions
- Candidate sourcing through traditional and creative channels
- Must be able to conduct in-depth interviews, facilitate behavioral assessments, and evaluate candidate profiles
- Exceptional customer service focus, including attention to producing quality results
- Exceptional interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
- Ability to multi-task and manage various recruitment projects simultaneously
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Self-initiative along with the ability to respond quickly to client requests
- Ability to be an effective team member and, as needed, handle project leadership responsibility
- Willing and able to adapt to new processes and effectively deal with change
- PC proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Working with Private Equity clients a plus
- Experience with Clockwork is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
