Position Purpose
The position is responsible for all aspects of buying and purchasing products to sell in our ReStores, to include negotiating cost with vendors and suppliers, seeking new product opportunities, maintaining existing business accounts, and working closely with ReStore managers to ensure compliance of adequate inventory measures and controls.
Essential Functions
Strategic Procurement :
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality products that align with our brand and customer preferences
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize cost-effectiveness
- Conduct market research to identify better deals and more profitable suppliers
Inventory Management :
- Cycle count training for all members of ReStore management
- Create inventory counts for ReStores and manage compliance
- Train and implement techniques as needed to control measures
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries and coordinate with ReStore staff
- Monitor stock levels and forecast upcoming demand
Vendor Relations :
- Cultivate strong relationships with reliable vendors, suppliers, and donors
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms including purchasing
- Comparison shop the competition to determine price points and product demand
- Close deals with suppliers, ensuring favorable outcomes for our organization
Risk Mitigation :
- Assess, manage, and mitigate risks related to purchasing and inventory management
- Ensure all new goods offered for purchase in our ReStores are high-quality
- Eliminate non-productive inventory through informed decision-making
Operational Excellence :
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment for customers, employees, and volunteers
- Ensure outstanding customer service by collaborating with ReStore Managers
- Adhere to schedules, maintain a professional appearance, and uphold company policies
- Key and Alarm code holder
- Other Habitat Charlotte Region related tasks as requested by supervisor
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Proven working experience as a retail buyer or purchasing coordinator
- Valid drivers license and dependable transportation
- Degree in business administration, logistics, or supply chain management OR equivalent working experience in related field
Skills and Abilities
- Vendor / Supplier negotiating skills
- Ability to read, count, and accurately complete reports and all end of day documentation
- Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
- Solid judgment along with decision making skills
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
- Willingness to travel via personal vehicle to various locations within our service area (Meck. Co. and Iredell Co. - mileage reimbursement provided when using personal vehicle)

Work Environment
This position requires working in a variety of conditions, including retail stores, warehouse / dock, and driving between locations.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to move merchandise throughout the store, 50-60 lbs with assistance
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
- Ability to work flexible schedule, some nights and weekends
- Ability to be Forklift Certified
Estimated Time Commitment : 40 hours / week, Monday-Friday schedule.
