Job description

Electrical Project Buyer

The Electrical Project Buyer is a key member of the Supply Chain organization responsible for ensuring all electrical materials required for custom engineered projects are sourced, purchased, and delivered accurately and on time. This role serves as the primary purchasing partner for electrical and controls-related project needs, including wire, conduit, sensors, VFDs, breakers, PLC components, panels, control hardware, fittings, and specialty electrical assemblies. The Electrical Project Buyer works closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing Coordination, and Quality to understand project scope, BOM requirements, specifications, and build schedules. The buyer is responsible for identifying material risks early, preventing delays, and providing proactive communication on shortages, changes, and supplier constraints. A core responsibility of this role is managing vendor relationships, obtaining competitive quotes, negotiating pricing and delivery terms, validating supplier acknowledgements, and maintaining high levels of supplier performance for on-time delivery and quality. The Electrical Project Buyer also contributes to data accuracy within Epicor by maintaining correct part settings, ensuring PO lines are updated correctly, attaching supplier acknowledgements, validating job material operations, and supporting accurate planning and scheduling.

CSI provides state-of-the-art stainless-steel process equipment and service for manufacturers in the food, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, and personal care industries.

We are a growing company built on teamwork, continuous learning, and exceptional customer service. Our employees are our greatest resource, and we invest in their development through training, collaboration, and opportunities to grow.

What You'll Do

  • Source and procure electrical components, hardware, controls, conduit, wire, panels, assemblies, and other project materials while securing competitive pricing and terms.
  • Prepare and manage accurate purchase orders, RFQs, supplier acknowledgements, and job-specific material requirements using Epicor.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing to ensure material availability aligns with project schedules, specifications, and operational requirements.
  • Monitor material shortages, lead times, and supplier commitments; expedite materials and proactively address potential project delays or risks.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while supporting cost savings, supplier performance, quality issues, returns, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate Epicor data, including part site records, planning parameters, purchase orders, job materials, pricing, and supplier information.
  • Participate in project kickoffs, design reviews, material readiness meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve procurement efficiency and project execution.

Education & Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • College coursework in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Inventory Management, preferred

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, customer service, operations, logistics, inventory, or related field, preferred
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, required
  • ERP (Epicor E10) experience preferred, but not required
  • Sanitary stainless-steel industry background, helpful

Why Join CSI?

  • Competitive compensation: $28-$30 per hour.
  • Growth-focused, team-oriented culture
  • Diverse, high-impact industrial projects
  • Strong benefits + career development support

Benefits & Perks

  • Health and wellness benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement planning options
  • Tuition reimbursement and continuing education support
  • Opportunities for internal career advancement
  • Company lunches, team events, and community volunteer opportunities
