Job Title: Entry Level Electrical Designer
Position Overview
The Electrical Designer will be responsible for leading the design, coordination, and documentation of electrical systems for commercial and residential construction projects. This role requires producing high-quality electrical layouts and schematics that meet project objectives, client expectations, and all applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and layout of electrical systems for commercial and residential projects, including power distribution, lighting, receptacles, and fire alarm systems.
- Develop complete electrical plans and schematics in compliance with project requirements, client needs, and governing codes such as NEC, NFPA, and IBC.
- Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, civil teams, and clients to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within overall building designs.
- Conduct site visits and attend client meetings to evaluate field conditions, confirm design intent, and provide technical support throughout construction.
- Assist with construction documents, technical specifications, and permit submittals, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters, supporting professional development and team collaboration.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in electrical design for commercial and residential buildings, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, including low-voltage design, load calculations, panel schedules, and circuiting methodologies.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and BIM modeling, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and code-compliant documents.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for project coordination and communication.
- Strong familiarity with local and national electrical codes, permitting processes, and construction standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-family residential and mixed-use developments.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD Electrical.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work schedule with up to two remote workdays per week. The role supports involvement in a diverse portfolio of projects and collaboration with teams across multiple locations, including Charlotte and Atlanta. Occasional travel is required for site visits, client meetings, and construction coordination. This role provides strong growth potential and the opportunity to help lead and expand the Charlotte office.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
