Overview
This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence three days per week at one of our local offices, located in Allentown, PA (Lehigh Valley), Louisville, KY, or Providence, RI.
Senior Developer :
The IT Metering Senior Developer as a key member of the IT Metering team, provides technical and vendor management skills to develop and maintain metering applications (meter reading, meter test, wholesale settlement, meter data management) and associated software interfaces. Anticipated to work on a variety of projects, with business and IT counterparts to achieve business outcomes.
Senior developer has a continuous learning mindset, is comfortable with IT technology, proven software development skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Developer Team Lead :
The Developer Team Lead designs develops and tests solutions based on the functional and technical specifications to meet quality & performance requirements. They are expected to be proficient in a variety of technologies and languages (MEAN, MERN, C#, Java, C++, etc., Microservices, Cloud Architecture and API's) to develop applications. The developer approaches software holistically, catering to both user experience and functionality. The developer dabbles in emerging technologies (e.g., machine learning, internet of things and Artificial Intelligence etc.) to develop solutions that improve business performance (e.g., proactive customer service, outage management, grid balancing, fraud detection, IoT security).
The Team Lead is recognized as an expert in their functional area within the organization and works independently, under minimal guidance from their manager. May have direct responsibility of leading a small team of Developers, as required. Progression to Team Leader level is limited based on business requirement. #INDPPL LI-Hy
Responsibilities
Senior Developer :
Develop and implement applications, databases, software, integrations, firewall rules, security, testing, code migrations, Project Management, with Agile Framework skills.
Working with On Shore and Offshore team members, System Integration vendors, Application vendors, IT support organizations, and business teams.
Install new versions of Desktop software available to team members and business users.
Implement, test, and deploy software integrations (file transfers, Java / APIs, Agile)
Create additions and adjustments to the batch schedule in Automic.
Actively champion data quality needed to achieve business goals.
Actively work system and software performance to achieve business goals.
Understand, implement, and test Security features.
Analyze complex issues and work to resolution.
Create application monitoring, maintenance, and documents.
All activities done in a manner to meet SOX compliance. Participate in annual SOX audits.
Follow standard PPL processes including System Access and Change Management
Work in an iterative / agile environment and be a strong team player
Hands on with metering specific hardware for field meter reading and meter testing.
All other duties and projects as assigned.
Developer Team Lead :
Advance in depth emerging technology and software delivery knowledge
Collaborate with business users, system analysts, developers, and ecosystem partners to bring innovative ideas from conception to launch at scale.
Assist in analyzing and researching new and existing products, procedures, and / or workflow needs associated with business systems.
Work in an iterative / Agile environment and be a strong team player.
Adopt emerging technologies and launch products / services faster with rapid prototyping & iterative methods.
Proven ability to take prototypes to production, following engineering best practices.
Build, configure, or customize the technical solution (reusable components, preconfigured solutions, cloud solution and services)
Work very closely with the System Architect and multiple Technology teams to champion the adoption of patterns, platforms, and tools to support the usage and conformity of solution architecture.
Manage automation and monitor application integration as code iteratively goes through assembly and product tests.
Manages and mentors developers on job responsibilities.
May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office / on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
