Title: Program Supervisor, Asset Building

Location: 4822 N. Broadway Chicago, IL 60640

Schedule: Hybrid, Monday to Friday (8:30am-5:00pm)

Summary:

This supervisor provides functional/operational supervision to the Asset Building program, comprising Job Readiness training, English classes for job seekers as well as financial literacy programming. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below.

Essential Functions:

Duties & Responsibilities

    Makes care/participant project assignments to program workers in accord with established organization and department policies/procedures. Prepares performance evaluations for assigned staff, with guidance from higher level Manager(s).Participates in interviewing, hiring, discipline, termination and other relevant employment transactions, with guidance from higher level Manager(s).Ensures the implementation of organization and program/department policies and procedures. (e.g. personnel, financial, participant eligibility, Standards of Professional Conduct, Ethics, HIPAA etc.).Provides direct services for appropriate participants, cases and/or projects in accord with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Develops and maintains professional relationships with appropriate groups/organizations, etc., as approved by higher level Management.Remains current in the field of service provided by the program through self-initiated avenues, as approved by higher level Management.Supervises the case/treatment plan, referrals, follow-up schedule and advocacy needs, etc. for participants/cases of the program.Provides training and guidance to assigned staff in appropriate facets of the position and ensures documentation is completed in a thorough, accurate and timely fashion. Participates in Group Supervision meetings as scheduled.Conducts organization-sponsored in-service training sessions, as requested.Initiates requests for regular supervision and interim evaluation/goal setting.Develops, implements and monitors appropriate Unit procedures for effective delivery service and administrative efficiency.Participates in budget development and/or grant writing for the program as requested.Approves non-personnel financial transactions within established parameters.Participates in the development of long-range plans, service delivery models and other significant strategies and/or systems as requested.Assumes responsibility for the accuracy, substance and timeliness of program reports, projects, schedules and other relevant work products.Coordinates resolution of basic physical plant and/or equipment issues.Maintains an appropriate professional demeanor toward co-workers, visitors, participants, supervisors and all others.Assumes an appropriate role in other Unit tasks or projects.Adheres to professional standards as outlined by governmental bodies, NASW (and/or other appropriate professional associations), and private funding sources. Assists in the development of organizational plans/policies related to professional standards. Provides periodic evaluative reviews and/or in-house and external staff training to ensure that staff understand and continue to adhere to such standards. Initiates requests for assistance or guidance from Supervisor to address new issues or complex concepts affecting adherence to professional standards.

Education and Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree and two years of supervisory experience required. A credit towards additional years of experience can be applied in place of a Bachelor’s Degree.

Certifications/Licenses:

    Background check required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A):

    Excellent communication skills. Strong networker, convener, relationship builder and communicator with experience collaborating with diverse work teams and stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information possessing skills to handle situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.A high degree of collaboration and emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical ability.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Heartland Human Care Services.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision.Strategic thought partnership and consultancy skills.Access to regular, dependable and timely transportation Ability and comfortability working with people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds.

Work Arrangement:

This role is eligible for a “hybrid” or “remote” work arrangement. If hybrid, it is expected this person would be able to meet for “in person” meetings when needed or at the request of others. In-person meetings may be required on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.). There may also be the availability to work from home when appropriate.

Work Environment:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Program sites are located throughout the Chicago area, including the North and South sides of Chicago, as well as the suburbs. Employees may be required to report to any one of our locations on a temporary or permanent basis.

Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk.The employee must be able to stoop, kneel and/or crawl.The employee is regularly required to use hands to key, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must have unrestricted ability to provide physical restraint.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
