Job description

About the Role

Tracing our roots to 1928, Wellington Management Company, LLP is one of the world’s largest independent investment management firms. Our global investment platform is comprised of over 500 investment professionals across seven investment groups (Hedge Fund Group, Private Investments, Sustainability, Investment Boutiques, Investment Research, Risk & Science, and Investment Strategy) in the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions. The team collectively manages approximately $1 trillion in assets under management across the capital structure.

We serve as a trusted adviser to institutional clients and mutual fund sponsors in over 60 countries. Our innovative investment solutions are built on the strength of proprietary, independent research and span the global capital markets, including equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative strategies. As a private partnership whose sole business is investment management, our long-term views and interests are aligned with those of our clients. We are committed to attracting a talented and diverse workforce, and to fostering an open, collaborative, and inclusive culture because we believe multiple perspectives lead to more informed investment and business decisions. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome people with diverse life experiences, fresh ideas, and specialized subject-matter expertise.

Position

We are seeking an HR Analyst to join the Generalist team supporting the Investment Platform. The HR Analyst will work with the Human Resource Relationship Managers (HRRMs), managers and employees to provide HR strategy and support across the seven investment groups. The HR Analyst will have the opportunity to work across multiple HR areas including talent strategy, performance management and compensation, talent development, employee relations, culture and community, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The HR Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

Talent Management

  • Work with HRRMs, managers and employees to support various talent activities such as employee transitions, compensation analytics, drafting skill-based development plans, execution of performance management processes, etc.
  • Data and analytical project requests. Liaise with the Data Management and Talent Analytics team to drive data and analytical projects focused on employee trend analysis like diversity, historical trends, etc.
  • Partner with employees, managers, HRRMs, and our Global Mobility function to support ad hoc questions, talent projects, and global relocation and immigration needs
  • Support the onboarding and assimilation of new joiners/interns to ensure successful connectivity and engagement

Strategic Talent Projects

  • Partner with Specialist teams across HR and Finance to lead our team’s global and platform-wide coordination to critical HR processes including performance management processes, compensation studies, culture and community initiatives, employee engagement studies, and diversity, equity and inclusion. He/she will support the team to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met and the team’s collaboration tools and relevant information for these processes are efficiently organized.
  • Act as project manager for strategic talent projects and initiatives
  • Provide HR reporting and analysis for the HRRMs and managers. Analyzes talent data for trends and patterns with attention to DEI, recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.

Growth and Development

  • Staying intellectually curious and current on important HR topics for the business, both on an as needed basis for clients and for their own skill development as an HR practitioner is a critical skill. This may include reading HR publications, building HR certifications, building professional skills, and expanding knowledge on the asset management industry.
  • Over time, this role may expand leadership opportunities into areas such as independent coverage of particular areas of the business and be an HR Advisor to our Business Networks.

This team provides high touch HR business partnership for an important part of the business. This is a terrific opportunity to develop and hone deep human resources skills and learn about the investment management business within a globally supportive team. This position is based in Boston.

Requirements

It is important that the ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, an effective communicator and intellectually curious. The desire to both work independently and be resourceful to ‘figure things out’ with sound judgement is an important part of joining this high functioning global team. Additional qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources / People Strategy required; Asset Management or Professional Services experience preferred
  • College degree required in Human Resources Management, Human Capital Management, Business Administration, Analytics, Economics, or a related field of study
  • Ability to handle a high paced environment, be flexible and prioritize multiple demands, have a strong work ethic
  • Exceptional project and change management experience – results driven self-starter who can lead projects from inception through delivery
  • Ability to build strong relationships and a proven track record of positively collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Must be comfortable speaking up - ask good questions, drive clarity, and influence when necessary
  • Creative and pragmatic problem solver with ability frame issues, identify important points, synthesize, and draw conclusions
  • Ability to have a high attention to detail, manage large quantities of data, and arrange and analyze information to identify patterns and root causes.
  • High proficiency and desire to learn MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word) and Collaboration Tools (OneNote and Teams) is a requirement.

Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? That’s ok. If you believe that you could excel in this role, we encourage you to apply and welcome a chance to review your background. We are dedicated to building and maintaining a diversified workforce and considering a broad array of candidates with a variety of skill, workplace experiences, and backgrounds.

As an equal opportunity employer, Wellington Management ensures that all qualified applicants will receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, creed, national origin, age, ancestry, disability (physical or mental), medical condition, citizenship, marital status, pregnancy, veteran or military status, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. At Wellington Management, our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent in our industry. In addition, we offer a comprehensive and high value benefit package to meet the unique needs of our employees and their families, and we are committed to fostering a flexible work environment that enables employees to thrive personally and professionally. We believe that in person interactions inspire and energize our community and are essential to our culture. In support of this commitment, our employees work from our offices 4 days a week with flexibility to work remotely 1 day a week. We believe that this approach ultimately supports our mission to deliver investment excellence to our clients and their beneficiaries over the long term.
