Job description

Job Description:
  • The Data Security Engineer will lead and coordinate data protection initiatives focused on Microsoft sensitivity labeling, enforcement policies, and Safe Data Program operations.
  • This role requires strong hands-on experience in data security technologies, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to deliver detailed project artifacts, status reporting, and migration strategies supporting organizational separation and transfer activities.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Law, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience in data protection, privacy, or information security.
  • Hands-on experience with secured data protection and Microsoft sensitivity labeling technologies (e.g., Microsoft Purview).
  • Experience working with endpoint and data protection tooling.
  • Experience collaborating with IAM, ServiceNow, Security Engineering, and End User Services teams.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage scope, timelines, risks, and stakeholder communications.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to NDAs.
Experience:
  • Experience reviewing and updating Statements of Work (SOW), roadmaps, and detailed project plans.
  • Experience managing separation and transfer activities related to data security controls.
  • Experience creating and configuring IAM exception groups for USB, fileshare, and webmail use cases.
  • Experience designing and automating ServiceNow intake processes with IAM workflow integration.
  • Experience producing structured project documentation including runbooks, storyboards, training materials, and FAQs.
  • Experience delivering monthly and quarterly executive-level status reporting.
  • Knowledge of regional data protection and compliance considerations.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and update SOW, roadmap, and project plans; document scope or schedule changes.
  • Lead kickoff and coordinate separation and transfer activities for Microsoft sensitivity labeling and enforcement policies.
  • Identify, copy, and catalogue Safe Data Program artifacts (SOPs, knowledge articles, and internal documentation).
  • Configure IAM exception groups and document configuration steps.
  • Coordinate with ServiceNow teams to replicate and automate exception intake processes.
  • Develop and maintain Safe Data Exception inventory with migration recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Security Engineering and EUS to define methodology for configuring and migrating Microsoft sensitivity labels and enforcement policies.
  • Deliver detailed workstream project artifacts including timelines, runbooks, training decks, and FAQs.
  • Provide ongoing data security consultation and subject matter expertise.
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports, highlighting milestones, risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Deliver final engagement closeout documentation.
Key Deliverables:
  • Updated SOW, roadmap, and change log.
  • Sensitivity labeling separation and transfer plan.
  • Catalog of Safe Data Program artifacts.
  • Configured IAM exception groups with documentation.
  • ServiceNow exception intake design and automation specifications.
  • Safe Data Exception inventory dataset with migration mapping.
  • Technical approach and recommendations for Microsoft sensitivity label configuration and policy enforcement.

  • Monthly, quarterly, and final closeout reports.
