As a Senior Software Engineer at Aptive Environmental, you’ll join a cross-functional engineering team that partners with Product and UX to deliver scalable systems across sales, operations, and field platforms. Our teams own what they build and take pride in leaving systems better than they found them. This is a full-time position that can be located remotely in the United States or at our office in Provo, Utah.

Compensation: $140k–$150k annually

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend and frontend systems with strong testing and observability

• Collaborate with UX, product managers, and engineers across domains to define and deliver solutions

• Review and improve code for quality, maintainability, and design

• Balance implementation complexity, time to market, scalability, and resiliency

• Mentor teammates and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

• Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring

Measures of Success:

• Features and subsystems you lead are stable, reliable, and easy to evolve

• You help your team navigate ambiguity and converge on the best tradeoffs

• Peers trust your reviews, mentorship, and design judgment

• Systems you touch improve in clarity, performance, and maintainability

Qualifications:

• Senior proficiency in at least one modern language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, PHP, etc.)

• PHP and React experience preferred, and/or willingness to work in PHP and React as part of our primary stack (React, Laravel, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ)

• At least 5 years of backend and/or frontend development experience delivering production systems preferred

• Strong database and SQL skills; experience designing and optimizing schemas

• Experience owning features or subsystems from design through release

• Familiarity with AI-powered developer tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) preferred

• Public GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket profile is a plus
