Controller

PAR Western Line Contractors, LLC (dba QUES), a subsidiary of Quanta Services, Inc., is composed of some of the most highly qualified professionals experienced in all aspects of engineering, designing, asset management, and construction management for the electric utility and other industries. We are a highly mobile and flexible team with the ability to service every area and region within our customers' area of operation. With over 700 employees and growing, we have thousands of years of combined electrical utility experience to draw from when committing to provide our clients with a wide range of utility services.

This role will be based out of our Benicia, CA location.

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, including general ledger, job cost accounting, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, compliance with GAAP, SOX, and company policies, and provides leadership to the accounting and job cost teams. The Controller plays a key role in maintaining the company's SOX Risk Control Matrix (RCM), driving process improvements, supporting operational leadership, and fostering collaboration between Finance and Operations to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, job cost accounting, AP / AR, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure SOX compliance; manage audits and risk control documentation.
  • Lead the job cost accounting team to ensure accurate project setup, cost tracking, and revenue recognition.
  • Partner with operations to analyze job performance and improve project profitability.
  • Implement standardized reporting and dashboards for financial and job cost visibility.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Drive process improvements, ERP optimization, and automation for efficiency.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to align with business objectives.
  • Monitor and manage financial risks, providing updates to leadership.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Experience with job cost accounting and project-based financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pay- $ 170,000 - $ 210,000 / Annually
