Job description

Government Guaranteed Loan Processor/Closer

The position is responsible for processing and closing government guaranteed loans and lines of credit, while providing support to the Government Guaranteed Loan Officers and other GGL specialists. Ensures loans are processed and closed accurately, efficiently, timely and in accordance with Credit Union guidelines, SBA and USDA guidelines and regulatory requirements. This position will maintain a member focus and will partner with Government Guaranteed Loan Officers, Underwriters, and Portfolio Managers. In addition, this position will assist the Director of Government Guaranteed Loan Operations with leading the Processor/Closers to deliver a superior member experience and help mitigate risk for the credit union.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for day-to-day collaboration with Director and GGL Operations Team.
  • Leads GGL team in Director's absence.
  • Oversees/assists with all SBA loan documentation, Quality Control Audits and funding responsibilities.
  • Oversees the process and assists in clearing loan documentation exceptions.
  • Completes loan file review, including documentation review, for all SBA loans and change in terms.
  • Maintains the integrity of loan data by ensuring all terms of the approved loan are accurately incorporated in the loan closing package.
  • Oversees the team in post-closing functions which may include, but not limited to, loan funding functions, Synergy of and proper storage of loan documentation.
  • Assists Closing Team with review of complex third-party documentation of Leases, Trusts, Title Commitments, Settlement Statements, etc.
  • Cross trained in processing, closing and servicing of government guaranteed loans.
  • Maintains a steady pipeline processing and closing Government Guarantee Loans.
  • Ensures all individual and departmental goals and service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Stays current with and applies credit policy and procedures to all transactions to mitigate risk to the Credit Union and support a low PARRiS score.
  • Able to coach internal business partners in Government Guaranteed lending loan processes.
  • Assists with the handling of member inquiries and ensures appropriate and timely resolution.
  • Ensures all internal systems are updated correctly reflecting accurate borrower / loan information.
  • Organizes electronic files according to Sageworks/Synergy standards.
  • Maintains intimate working knowledge of all required SBA / USDA SOPs to ensure proper oversight and compliance of regulations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Required Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED seven plus (7+) years' experience in Government Guaranteed lending. Proficient knowledge of SBA lending and SOP along with compliance and documentation regulations. Experience in LaserPro for loan documentation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Professional written, verbal communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to produce quality work within tight time frames while managing multiple assignments. Ability to work on core processing systems (JHA) and department specific processing systems (Sageworks / Laser Pro). Knowledge of Microsoft Office and JHA. Strong work ethic, the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing deadlines, advanced interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and the desire to work as a team to support the overall success of the credit union. Strong knowledge base about conventional, SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 loan programs, policies and procedures.

Licenses, Training, and Certifications Required

None.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or any relevant industry certification.

Sageworks experience.

Hybrid Work Environment and Physical Demands
