Project Procurement Specialist

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States

The Opportunity

As a Project Procurement Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering large-scale EPC programs that support stronger, smarter, and greener power grids. In this role, you will manage end-to-end project procurement activities, from project handover sourcing strategy through project execution and closeout. You will own the Project Procurement Plan (PPP), support critical sourcing and supplier activities, drive On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance on critical equipment, and help ensure cost, schedule, and quality targets are achieved. Working closely with Project Management, Engineering, Project Controls, Construction, Quality, Legal, Finance, Category Management, and global supply chain teams, you will contribute to the successful delivery of power infrastructure projects. You will gain exposure to complex procurement planning, supplier quality processes, logistics coordination, scheduling, risk management, and project execution in a fast-paced environment. Your work will directly support the reliable delivery of equipment and services required to build and modernize power infrastructure that helps deliver affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Build and manage Project Procurement Plans (PPP) aligned with project schedules, engineering deliverables, and procurement milestones.
  • Support RFI and RFQ activities and support technical and commercial evaluations in collaboration with Supply Chain, Project Management, and Engineering teams.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate supply, logistics, capacity, quality, and schedule risks throughout project execution.
  • Support sourcing, contracting, supplier communication, and commercial negotiations for project-specific materials and services.
  • Execute expediting activities, monitor supplier milestones, and drive recovery plans to support On-Time Delivery targets.
  • Coordinate supplier quality activities, including ITPs, FAT/SAT requirements, documentation management, and NCR/SNCRP closure support.
  • Publish procurement dashboards, monitor project performance metrics, and support continuous improvement and supplier performance initiatives.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field; 5-8 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of supply chain or procurement experience within project environments such as EPC, grid integration, utilities, industrial, or similar industries.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale procurement plans and supporting complex project delivery requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with supplier quality processes, including ITPs, FAT/SAT, and NCR/SNCRP activities.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP or Oracle), scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project), and analytics tools such as Power BI and Excel.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with willingness to travel as required.

More About Us

In this role, you will have opportunities to work across global supply chain networks, collaborate with experienced professionals, and build expertise supporting complex power industry projects.

  • Opportunities to work on innovative technologies that shape the future of energy
  • A collaborative environment with experienced professionals across the power industry
  • Health Care (medical, dental, vision, etc.)
