The Master of Counseling program at OSU-Cascades, is seeking a Counseling Program Director. This is a part-time (0.30FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Counseling Program Director is a 0.30 FTE position responsible for the strategic leadership, academic oversight, and operational supervision of the Master of Counseling (MCOUN) program at OSU-Cascades. This position plays a critical role in shaping the program’s direction, ensuring academic excellence, maintaining accreditation, and cultivating strong faculty and community relationships.

Working closely with the Academic Program Coordinator and track leads, the Director provides high-level guidance while delegating operational and administrative responsibilities appropriately. In alignment with CACREP standards, the Counseling Program Director works with the Academic Program Coordinator and track leads to coordinate the MCOUN program, respond to inquiries regarding the MCOUN program, and provide input and recommendations regarding the development of budget and expenditures.   • Provide strategic oversight to the Senior Associate Dean for program planning, implementation, and growth in alignment with university and campus priorities
  • Supervise and support core and part-time faculty and facilitate annual reviews
  • Interview and hire part-time faculty and oversee onboarding
  • Provide teaching reviews of part-time faculty
  • Support core and part-time faculty in navigating student concerns
  • Point person for core and part-time faculty-related concerns
  • Supervise and support core faculty in the promotion process
  • Develop mid-term review letters and regularly meet with core faculty for on-going support in this process
  • Supervise, support, and assist in onboarding the Academic Program Coordinator, OSU Clinic Director, and Clinical Mental Health Internship Coordinator
  • Track and approve faculty workload, working in partnership with the Academic Program Coordinator and in consultation with the Division Head, as appropriate and delegate counseling service tasks based on workload when needed
  • Represent the program in campus, college, and university-level meetings, partnerships, and strategic initiatives
  • Provide input and oversight for program budget and resource allocation (with administrative support from the Academic Program Coordinator) and in consultation with track leads
  • Coordinate with the Academic Program Coordinator and track leads to ensure accurate implementation of administrative processes and efficient day-to-day operations
  • Provide leadership for faculty recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluation
  • Collaborate with Academic Program Coordinator to develop faculty meeting agenda
  • Lead faculty meetings and determine if faculty working sessions, taskforces, or special committees are needed
  • Accreditation & Assessment – 15%

  • Coordinate with CACREP liaison for CACREP accreditation, including self-study preparation, annual reporting, and site visit coordination
  • Oversee program-level assessment and ensure alignment with Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO) and licensure requirements in coordination with track leads
  • Delegate data tracking and initial documentation support to the Academic Program Coordinator and / or the Assistant Director for Licensure, Accreditation & Assessment, with final oversight and integration led by the Director
  • Coordinate with track leads and the Assistant Director for Licensure, Accreditation & Assessment to ensure robust and consistent outcome measurement and program evaluation
  • Apprised of student referral and remediation forms and oversee student gatekeeping at the program level
  • Curriculum Oversight & Academic Integrity – 15%

  • Lead program-level curriculum planning and revisions in collaboration with track leads
  • Ensure academic rigor, consistency, and quality across all course offerings
  • Provide final review and approval of significant course and program changes
  • Collaborate with the Academic Program Coordinator and faculty to ensure course implementation supports program goals and accreditation standards
  • Oversee new student orientation
  • Oversee handbook revisions
  • Admissions, Recruitment & Outreach – 10%

  • Provide oversight of admissions decisions, in collaboration with the Graduate Student Recruitment Coordinator and core faculty to establish and maintain student enrollment targets
  • Represent the program in recruitment and outreach initiatives, including alumni and community partnerships
  • Support visibility of the program at state meetings, licensure boards, and relevant academic / professional forums
  • Plans and leads MCOUN Advisory Board meetings in consultation with track leads
  • What You Will Need

  • Earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Eligible for or holds a professional counseling license in Oregon.
  • Minimum of five years of higher education teaching and advising experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and / or administrative experience in counselor education.
  • Hold the rank of Associate Professor
  • Experience with CACREP standards, accreditation, and programmatic assessment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and mentorship skills.
  • A record of commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in counselor education.
  • This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard : 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience working in or leading CACREP-accredited programs.
  • Familiarity with Oregon licensure requirements and TSPC reporting.
  • Experience mentoring faculty and engaging in faculty development.
  • Successful experience with budget oversight and academic operations.
  • Background in building community partnerships, practicum site development, or alumni engagement.
  • Grant-writing or program development experience.
