Job Description
TITLE
CARE Student Services Program Advisor & Case Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The CARE Student Services Program Advisor & Case Manager will provide services to Frontiers students who have experienced foster care to support the goal of improving educational outcomes. This will include leading and maintaining the development and delivery of resources and training, being a connection between high schools, colleges, and other universities, assessing student's educational needs, and collaborating with campus resources regarding needs and resources.
The CARE Student Services Program Advisor & Case Manager performs work in the development, management, coordination, implementation, and supervision of Student Life programs relating to student enrichment, health and support, as well as family friendly, financial literacy programs, advising student organizations and other CARE activities and events. Additionally, these services are designed to enhance students' knowledge, understanding, and skills essential for academic success, personal development, and the exercise of leadership when appropriate. This position will assist and provide case management through effective coordination of care between campus and community resources.
This position coordinates communication efforts and systems, and is responsible for needs analysis, program and service evaluations, and logistical coordination. This position also may require public speaking and education with other departments at TWU, the Denton community, state and national conferences, and state legislative sessions. Work is performed under minimal supervision and performance is based on the effective operation of the administrative function. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to : CARE,Associate Director
Supervises : No supervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following :
- Plans, coordinates, implements, participates and / or evaluates activities / events for students served by the CARE office.
- Advises students in the Frontiers Program, the foster care student organization.
- Advises other student organizations housed in the CARE office.
- Advises, communicates, and coordinates with Student Life, TWU and off campus partners, about program development, implementation, and evaluation regarding housing / food insecurities. Also has a focus on other vulnerable and nontraditional populations such as student parents, veterans and foster care alumni.
- Provides intervention, coordinates referrals, maintains documentation for students experiencing basic needs insecurities (homelessness, financial distress, or food insecurity and other basic needs support).
- Maintains timely, complete, and accurate records.
- Follows up and tracks referrals to ensure quality of care and effective wrap around services.
- Maintains a database of referral resources and community services in surrounding communities.
- Evaluates current programs and develops new programs when appropriate.
- Research the latest trends regarding student support.
- Consults regularly with various departments on campus regarding services, access, and care.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
EDUCATION
Master's degree required in higher education administration, counseling, social work, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Two years' experience required. Previous work in a college or university environment is highly preferred; experience with and commitment to working with diverse clients including individuals from ethnically / racially diverse backgrounds and individuals representing varying sexual orientations and gender identities. Preference given to former foster youth.
REQUIREMENT
Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.
Valid driver's license and certification as an authorized TWU driver in order to drive on
University-related business.
