Seeking a highly skilled Associate Program Manager to support NASA's Earth Action Program, which leverages Earth science data to address critical societal challenges and enhance decision-making across sectors such as health, air quality, and disaster response. This position provides technical and operational support to the Wildland Fires Program and FireSense Project, ensuring effective collaboration, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to advance science-based solutions for wildfire management and resilience.
Program Support
- Provide project support for the Wildland Fires Program and FireSense Project, ensuring alignment with program objectives and timelines.
- Build strategic partnerships and collaborate with wildland fire program stakeholders, including federal, state, and local agencies, academia, and industry partners.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct meetings, workshops, and panels to connect NASA and wildland fire communities.
- Evaluate and analyze data acquired by and provided to the Wildland Fires Program and FireSense Project.
- Support field campaign planning and execution to ensure science goals are met across biodiversity, physical science, and fire management domains.
- Synthesize reporting for leadership to convey progress and outcomes to stakeholders and the broader scientific community.
- Identify and summarize significant research outcomes and track progress toward program goals.
- Monitor wildfire research projects to ensure milestones and deliverables are met, addressing issues proactively to maintain schedule integrity.
- Support data collection, organization, and management across all projects within the portfolio.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Earth System Science (paleo to modern processes).
- 9+ years of experience with threatened wildlife habitat restoration.
- Wildland Fire training (S-130, S-190) and Emergency Management certifications (ICS 100-700).
- Tactical field team leadership in extreme environments (Arctic and Antarctic).
- Development of multidisciplinary teams across physical, biological, and human health sciences.
- Extensive publication record in high-impact journals and experience representing federal programs in national and international media.
