Transplant Program Description
The Atrium Health Transplant Center, part of the Carolinas Medical Center, stands as one of North Carolina's most active transplant centers. The Metrolina Nephrology transplant nephrology team, working hand in hand with the Atrium team has been there from the beginning, actively leading the kidney-pancreas program since the first kidney transplant in 1970. It is among only six centers in the United States that operate a hospital-based organ procurement program, leading to reduced average waiting times for organ recipients. With Metrolina's team of five transplant nephrologists, provides ongoing care to nearly 2,000 kidney transplant patients and serves patients from all over the region. In 2023, our nephrologists evaluated organ offers and served as the primary physician to patients, accomplishing more than 160 kidney transplants and participated in numerous other multi-organ transplant procedures.

You are a fellowship trained Transplant Nephrologist who is excited to be part of a growing large, stable, private nephrology practice and well-respected transplant program. Role Description
This is a full-time role as a Transplant Nephrologist at Metrolina Nephrology Associates located in Charlotte, NC. As a Transplant Nephrologist, you will be responsible for providing specialized medical care to patients with kidney disease who are in need of a kidney transplant. Your day-to-day tasks will include evaluating patients, evaluating organ offers, coordinating with transplant surgeons and other healthcare professionals, managing post-transplant care, and ensuring the best outcomes for patients.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Medical degree and completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Nephrology
- Fellowship training in Transplant Nephrology
- Board certification or eligibility in Nephrology and Transplant Nephrology
- Experience in managing kidney transplant patients, including pre- and post-transplant care
- Strong knowledge of current evidence-based practices in Transplant Nephrology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based healthcare environment
- Dedication to providing compassionate and patient-centered care
