Job Description

Job Title: Cross-Platform Engine Developer (Cocos2d-x)


Job Type: Part time (Contract role)


Location: Remote


Job Summary:

Join our customer's team as a Cross-Platform Engine Developer specializing in Cocos2d-x! In this role, you'll be instrumental in building and optimizing high-performance 2D and lightweight 3D games across mobile, desktop, and console platforms. Bring your engine expertise and passion for games to deliver immersive and scalable experiences for a global audience.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and maintain game engine features using Cocos2d-x in C++.
  2. Optimize memory usage, rendering performance, and platform-specific integrations for multiple devices.
  3. Ensure scalable and maintainable game architectures suitable for global game releases.
  4. Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and QA teams to implement and refine features.
  5. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex engine-related issues across platforms.
  6. Stay updated on the latest advancements in game engine technology and suggest improvements.
  7. Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, within a distributed team environment.



Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience developing with Cocos2d-x and C++ in high-performance game projects.
  2. Strong background in computer graphics, rendering pipelines, and memory optimization.
  3. Hands-on experience deploying games for mobile (iOS/Android), desktop, and console platforms.
  4. Deep understanding of cross-platform development challenges and solutions.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  6. Strong problem-solving aptitude and attention to detail in complex technical environments.
  7. Ability to thrive in a remote, fast-paced, and globally distributed team.



Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with lightweight 3D engine features or hybrid 2D/3D game projects.
  2. Familiarity with global release processes and scalable game architecture best practices.
  3. Background in optimizing games for resource-constrained or high-latency environments.
