Duke Athletics is firmly committed to our values of respect, trust, inclusion, discovery, and excellence, and to continuing our work to be an equitable and inclusive environment for all. Our collective success within and beyond the competitive arena depends on each community member being and feeling welcomed, respected, and valued. Through continuous education, reflection, humility, and accountability, we strive to develop leaders who embody these ideals.

Title: Communications Coordinator

Be You.

At Duke University, we value creativity, storytelling, and the unique voices that bring our community to life. As a Communications Coordinator, you’ll join the Athletics Department’s communications team and play a key role in shaping how Duke Athletics is seen, heard, and experienced—by fans, media, and the broader Duke community. You’ll collaborate with passionate colleagues, student-athletes, and campus partners to tell compelling stories that reflect Duke’s tradition of excellence, innovation, and impact.

Be Bold.

This role calls for a confident communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment and enjoys being at the center of the action.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage daily communications responsibilities for assigned Duke Athletics programs
  • Produce media guides, game notes, news releases, and feature stories
  • Create feature content and original coverage for GoDuke.com, the official website of Duke Athletics
  • Respond to media inquiries and support proactive media outreach
  • Staff home events and selected away competitions
  • Supervise statistical crews and other event support personnel
  • Participate in assigned sports’ creative working groups
  • Compile and manage statistics, including researching historical records for Athletics publications
  • Support the broader communications staff with additional departmental needs as assigned

Choose Duke.

Duke University is a world-class institution committed to excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning. Working in Duke Athletics means being part of a nationally respected program that values professionalism, creativity, and collaboration—on and off the field. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and NCAA Live Stats
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience in media relations, communications, public relations, or a related field supporting sports information activities
