The District Sales Manager will be responsible for DGI Supply sales objectives, initiatives and policy for their assigned sales district. They will oversee the health and effectiveness of their team of Account Managers in delivering profitable growth. They will rely on their extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in alignment with business objectives. As a people manager, the District Sales Manager will perform a variety of tasks leading and supporting the work of others. A wide degree of latitude is expected. The District Sales Manager will report to the Director of Sales.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- People Management & Team Development :
- Manages five (5) or more account managers
- Extract candidates for account managers from the marketplace via contacts, newspaper ads or networking. Always have a "bench."
- Conduct formal performance reviews with Account Managers on an annual basis
- Weekly / monthly updates on performance metrics should be provided as lead in to formalized annual reviews
- Operate as a leader and constantly reinforce the goals and objectives of the company and the sales group
- Be able to develop fundamental / functional plans as needed
- Build the "best team" possible as quickly as possible
- Business, Territory and Sales Management & Development :
- Manage the district business development and execution strategy for the company to reach assigned objectives
- Manage profitability of all accounts and vendors / lines
- Introduce / propose new products, new lines and new strategies to grow business
- Establish clearly defined sales plans to support company's financial and sales goals
- Account Managers must clearly understand assigned objectives.
- Make regularly scheduled calls on key accounts, and familiarize yourself with other classes of trade, specifically medial, aerospace, etc.
- Bring forward ideas / concepts on how to accelerate sales activity in your area of responsibility and where you recognize other opportunities may exist
- Prepare sales reports as needed / requested
- Monitor and measure performance of sales as requested and perform analysis on such as requested
- Work with budgets as far as tracking and monitoring spending. Budget analysis will be conducted as needed.
- Document calls and activities against accounts
- Relationship Building :
- Manage and build vendor relationships and become key operational contact
- Work with customers to build solid relationships and to build the business
- Verbal and written communications with customers is key, as it is with internal contacts, to ensure exceptional effectiveness.
- Work in a team environment and build trusting relationships with all internal contacts
- Contribute your knowledge and expertise to those around you to elevate their knowledge / performance. Be open, honest and direct with supervisor.
- Will work under moderate supervision guided by policies, procedures and individual job objectives and job description
