OVERVIEW

BMWC is an industrial construction company seeking an experienced payroll specialist to join the team. This position allows you to utilize your skills and expertise to timely process payroll as it pertains to specific construction projects.
You will be part of a top-performing team that works hard and has fun. You will report to an experienced Project Manager and receive guidance and support from an Accounting Supervisor, both who are experts in the industry. You will contribute to the company’s growth and profitability while building strong relationships with both the internal teams and external customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Payroll Specialist, you will :
- Enter, correct, verify, and transmit weekly payroll information into payroll systems – data entry through check generation. Review timesheet input to ensure accuracy of data, including necessary edits to batch. Ensures court-ordered and tax-levied garnishments are managed appropriately and employees are apprised. Facilitate adjustments and changes. Sort and distribute payroll checks to supervision. Process manual checks as necessary. Maintain records with accrual information related to vacation, supplemental time, and other related files.
- Manage the computation of lay-off checks as requested from the field. Ensure termination sheets are received and delivered to appropriate union. Assure accuracy of manual check advice and that terminated employees are removed from timesheets.
- Be responsible for craft verification of employment; facilitate questions and answers.
- Maintain a solid understanding of union contract requirements, as well as applicable payroll tax laws.
- Update employee log daily for use in gathering craft time from craft supervision.
- Compile payroll data for all craft employees including regular hours, OT hours, and DT hours necessary to complete the payroll process.
- Audit timesheets for completeness and accuracy.
- Accurate and timely data entry into designated systems.
- Timely update of reports.
- May handle confidential and / or sensitive data and information.
- Maintain essential documentation within document imaging systems; file and index per defined standards.
- Heavy communication with the accounting team and project personnel including Project Manager(s), Project Engineer(s), as well as Craft Supervision.
- Embrace technological innovations and continuously seek to improve processes and best practices.
- Communicate, through the appropriate channels, any observations of noncompliance with the Guiding Principles and Core Values of BMWC and / or other violations of policy or illegal actions that place personnel and the company at risk.
- Meet corporate standard for development activity.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
