Senior Commodity Manager Facilities & Capital Programs

The Senior Commodity Manager will lead strategic sourcing initiatives for the Facilities & Capital Programs category, managing procurement strategies and supplier relationships across the University of California system. This role focuses on driving cost savings, value creation, supplier performance, and operational efficiencies while collaborating with stakeholders across multiple UC campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing and category management initiatives for Facilities & Capital Programs.
  • Develop and execute category strategies using spend analysis, market research, and sourcing best practices.
  • Manage the complete RFx lifecycle (RFI, RFQ, RFP), supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Build strong partnerships with Facilities, Construction Services, Legal, and Procurement stakeholders.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements to secure favorable pricing, terms, rebates, and service levels.
  • Manage supplier performance and support continuous process improvements.
  • Present sourcing strategies, market trends, and procurement recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support contract administration and ensure compliance with University procurement policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Category Management, Supply Chain, or Construction Procurement.
  • Strong experience leading negotiations and developing category strategies.
  • Experience managing Facilities, Construction, Capital Projects, MRO, Janitorial, Furniture, Uniforms, or related categories.
  • Experience leading RFx events (RFI/RFP/RFQ), supplier negotiations, and contract management.
  • Strong stakeholder management, analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Higher Education, Public Sector, or Government procurement.
  • Experience with public construction procurement.
  • CPSM, CPSD, CSCP, or other relevant procurement certifications.
