A Different Approach to Building Healthcare Technology
At Midstream, we are building software to solve the hardest problems in healthcare business operations and administration. We’re developing a data platform to bring true AI-native data operations to core healthcare business functions, from supply chain to managed care to operations, enabling large health systems to massively reduce the administrative burden and shift resources back to patient care.
We are a seasoned founding team, backed by a16z as well as some of healthcare's most well known angel and strategic investors.
We're looking for a founding Data Analyst who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, lean into messy data, communicate clearly, and help shape the foundation of a company solving hard, real-world problems.
This is a role for someone with strong analytical skills, sharp instincts, and a deep curiosity—especially about how emerging tools like generative AI can change the game.
What You’ll Do
Analyze complex operational, financial, and legal data to unlock insights that matter
Partner cross-functionally with teams across operations, product, engineering, and leadership—to uncover value for health systems and directly influence the direction of the software we’re building through your insights
Translate your analysis into clear, actionable takeaways —whether through a quick write-up, chart, spreadsheet, or conversation
Serve as a customer-facing partner in certain meetings—professionalism and clarity are essential
Travel as-needed for customer work or team offsites
Explore and experiment with ways generative AI can streamline workflows —from automating repetitive tasks to enhancing analysis and communication
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone sharp, curious, and driven. You don’t need a specific pedigree—but here’s what we expect :
1–3 years of experience working directly with data in a business, healthcare, consulting, or finance context
Excel fluency is a must —you should be confident modeling, manipulating, and visualizing data
SQL experience is a plus, but not required
Strong communicator : you explain complex analysis in simple, crisp language—verbally and in writing
Customer-ready professionalism—you can represent the company well in meetings when needed
Familiarity with financial documents, legal contracts , or structured / unstructured business data
Proven ability to translate complex data into simple, actionable insights
Experience in or exposure to the healthcare industry is preferred
An entrepreneurial mindset : resourceful, adaptable, and excited to build from zero
Above all, a curious and hungry attitude —you love to ask “why,” learn quickly, and go deep on tough problems
A natural inclination to experiment with new tools , especially around AI-powered workflows (you don’t need deep experience in GenAI—but you should be excited about its potential)
Comfortable with ambiguity, fast-moving environments, and problem-solving without a roadmap
Why Join Us?
Shape the foundation of an ambitious healthcare company from day one
Work alongside experienced founders and a tight-knit, mission-driven team
Tackle meaningful, real-world problems with a data-first lens
Explore new tech—including GenAI—and drive innovation from within
Competitive salary + meaningful equity
Strong culture of trust, rigor, and candor
You’ll thrive here if you’re :
Energized by solving hard problems
Curious about how systems work—and how to make them better
Motivated by impact, not titles
Always asking “How can we do this smarter?”
Ready to bring data, insight, and clarity to every conversation
Let’s build something better. Together.
If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
