Summary/Primary Purpose: Provide a variety of duties, including direct care of participants, meal preparation, activities and general upkeep at The Salvation Army Adult Day Health Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist participants with personal cares such as walking, toileting, feeding, etc. in a secure environment. Able to give showers as scheduled. Communicate with the director and nurse about participant changes.
• Prepare, coordinate and lead activities according to daily activity calendar.
• Participates in activity planning.
• Documents activities, assistance with personal cares, and outcome of participants’ goals.
• Assist and complete daily CACFP program sheets and follows regulations.
• Plan, serve and/or prepare meals/snacks and clean up, following all food safety requirements.
• Assist with grocery list/inventory of food.
• Ensure safety, cleanliness of facility, equipment. Does laundry, cleaning of bathrooms, sweeping and other minor housecleaning upkeep.
• Keep record of daily attendance and time sheets, bus coordination.
• Shows enthusiasm and genuine desire to work with the elderly and disabled, works well with people of diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds.
• Driving is an essential function of this position.
• All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities : Assist in supervising volunteers.

Education and/or Experience: Preferred high school diploma or general education degree (GED). No prior experience needed; will train on job. Prefer 1 year related experience in health care

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. As

well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.

• Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working

relationships.

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army. Obtain and maintain CPR certification. Attend annual Dementia Training. Brain Injury/Trauma training required.

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. This position also requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. This position also requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. There are no special vision requirements. Able to work with those with dementia and other physical and mental limitations.

Working Conditions: The work environment is a business/institution setting with moderate traffic and noise levels.
