Job description

Environmental Program Manager

Alameda, CA; Moses Lake, WA

About Us

We are Sila, a next-generation battery materials company. Our mission is to power the world's transition to clean energy. To create this future, our team is building a better lithium-ion battery from the inside out today. We engineer and manufacture ground-breaking battery materials that significantly increase the energy density of batteries, while reducing their size and weight. The result? Smaller more powerful batteries that can unlock innovation in consumer devices and accelerate the mass adoption of electric cars to eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels. We're tackling one of the biggest challenges of our time every day, and together we're redefining what's possible. Are you ready to be a part of a team committed to changing the world?

Who You Are

As a master cross-functional orchestrator and executive, and external communicator, you will lead through influence, partnering with EHS&S site managers, R&D, engineering, and operations to embed a rigorous culture of environmental stewardship into our commercial execution.

Set a strategy for source testing that is aligned with Sila leadership. Manage environmental source testing and submit reports to agencies within regulatory requirements.

Develop and deliver environmental training for employees.

Assist with environmental incident reporting and investigation, contributing to root cause analysis and preventative measures.

Communicate environmental performance metrics and regulatory updates effectively with site management.

Collaborate with EHS&S staff to develop and implement environmental programs and initiatives, and where time, lead and/or contribute to other HS&S programs.

Stay current on environmental regulations and requirements.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Industry Experience: 10+ years of professional experience building and scaling corporate EHS&S programs within heavy tech, chemicals, automotive, or advanced manufacturing industries.

Scale-Up Expertise: Minimum 5 years leading large-scale environmental programs, with demonstrated experience supporting technology transfer from R&D into high-volume commercial manufacturing environments.

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in EHS, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering/technical discipline. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The starting base pay for this role is between $159,000 and $201,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills.
