Position Description
Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to : Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

About the Department and / or College
The Risk Intervention and Safety Education (RISE) department at Texas Tech University is dedicated to promoting student well-being through education, outreach, and advocacy. This position supports RISE's substance use prevention efforts by equipping students with tools for making informed decisions about alcohol and other drugs, reducing harm, and accessing campus support resources.
Major / Essential Functions
Alcohol and Other Drug Education : Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of substance use prevention and harm-reduction programs. This includes events such as National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Safe Spring Break, and other campus initiatives.
Student Coaching and Intervention : Meet with students one-on-one to provide personalized, non-clinical coaching regarding their alcohol or drug use. Utilize motivational interviewing strategies to support behavior change and connect students to appropriate resources.
Wellness Coaching : Provide individualized, strengths-based wellness coaching to students grounded in the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Utilize motivational interviewing strategies to support goal setting, behavior change, and skill development, and connect students to appropriate campus and community resources as needed.
Campus Collaboration : Work with Student Conduct, Student Health Services, University Housing, the Counseling Center, and other departments to promote coordinated prevention efforts and student referrals.
Program Evaluation and Reporting : Collect and analyze data related to student engagement, program effectiveness, and behavioral outcomes. Use data to inform program development and provide reports to internal stakeholders.
Training and Education : Facilitate educational workshops and trainings for peer educators, student organizations, and other student groups on topics related to alcohol and drug use, harm reduction, and bystander intervention.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education, health promotion, or substance use prevention.
Familiarity with motivational interviewing, SBIRT, or brief intervention strategies.
Strong public speaking and workshop facilitation skills.
Understanding of trends and issues related to college student substance use.
