We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our service team. The Service Writer is responsible for providing customer and technicians support at MQ ServicePlus locations.

Responsibilities include checking in equipment, processing all internal records related to repair work, parts inventory and received, communicating and scheduling customer equipment repairs, drop-off and pick-up.

The Service Writer serves as the main point of contact between Multiquip Service Plus office and the customer in coordinating equipment repairs in the shop.

Communications with customers will occur via phone, electronically and in person.

Responsibilities

Customer Interaction and Communication :

  • Receive customers with a professional appearance and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • Handle incoming inquiries related to ServicePlus+ equipment repairs.
  • Maintain accurate information to enable prompt answers to customer inquiries.
  • Keep customers up to date throughout the repair process.

Service Coordination and Administration :

  • Ascertains equipment issues by listening to the customer, taking notes, and inspecting equipment.
  • Create check-in sheets, quotes, update work orders, and close invoices, both handwritten and electronically.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager to review and translate inspection reports, quotes, and invoices.
  • Communicate, organize, schedule, review, and translate repair write-ups with service technicians.
  • Support shop and field job flow by processing estimates, scheduling field Preventive Maintenance Techs, and monitoring parts inventory to ensure job productions.
  • Order supplies and maintain inventory levels to ensure the availability of items required to complete jobs.
  • Closely follow up on parts availability and update the management team on extended delays.
  • Accountable for meeting shop labor rates and the quality of repairs. Report inaccurate labor rates and situations when rates will not be met to the manager / supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining hazmat and waste services (oil, fuel, anti-freeze, etc.) for the shop and service trucks.
  • Open and close the shop as needed.
  • Assist and back up the Service Administrator.
  • Participate in developing and implementing improved departmental procedures and methods.
  • Assist in equipment movement and staging to increase shop production, using carts, dollies, and forklift operation.
  • Provide technicians with technical info related to jobs to increase shop productivity by sourcing from parts departments, tech support, and field service departments.
  • Assist with training and processes at other MQ locations on Service Plus processes.
  • Travel to outside locations may be required for training and backup support.
  • Check and process RMA's that have been returned to the warehouse to expedite resolution.
  • Assist in shop parts warehouse inventory and field service transfers.
  • Use Microsoft Office programs and internal programs efficiently, including Field Aware, SAP, Zcost, MI System, etc.

Qualifications

Education and / or Work Experience Requirements :

  • General knowledge of construction and power equipment, to include basic engines mechanics and electronics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 3-5 years previous experience as a service writer.
  • Outstanding listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate : Microsoft Windows 10, SharePoint, OneNote, Office (Outlook, Word and Excel primarily).
  • Knowledge of SAP software desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, telephone, and problem-solving skills.
  • Pleasant and positive attitude.
  • Forklift operation
  • Spanish speaking is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Ability to interpret and understand a variety of mechanical / electrical diagrams and functionality.
  • Basic computer knowledge; Must have the ability to accurately and proficiently enter information into computer systems including various Microsoft Office applications, SAP, and SysAid Helpdesk.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base pay range of $24.00-$28.00 / hr
