Position Summary Participates in formal ERIE claims training program. Learns and assists in claims handling operations and processes. Duties and Responsibilities * Successfully completes assigned projects independently, using information and skills acquired in the training program, according to course objectives and timeline. * Learns and becomes familiar with branch office procedures. * Accompanies Material Damage Adjusters or Property Adjusters during the investigation of claims and in handling other related claims functions as required. * Develops and demonstrates a working knowledge of the computer based estimating system applicable to the role. * Handles claim functions such as establishing reserves, taking statements, documenting activities, conducting investigations and adjudicating losses to their final disposition. * Interacts with Agents and district sales managers in assigned territory to become familiar with claims and underwriting issues. Additional skills, abilities and qualifications for the Property Adjuster I: * Physical ability and willingness to climb onto roofs and to lift and climb ladders. * Willingness to work in inclement weather. * Willingness to work in undesirable indoor environments (e.g., houses exposed to flooding, fires). * Ability to work in confined spaces. * Ability to work well under pressure. * Ability to work independently without direct supervision. * Incumbent must live in territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company. * Position requires incumbent to serve on Catastrophe duty, which may include travel on short notice to other locations for periods in excess of two consecutive weeks.
